An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedIt is there just to denote that when you publish the preview, any size larger than the original template size will be outside the viewport (and as such require scrolling to view).
You can either as Cristian points out, just draw your own artboards if you don't want the formal device centric artboards - or set Scrolling to 'none' in the PI.

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedCan you share the version of Sketch you are using? I'm not having luck using Sketch 43.2 and Chrome 59.0.3071.115 to reproduce the successful drag and drop that you are with the same image (as seen in your video).

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedThanks for the feedback! For now you could convert the text to a path, then fill with a gradient?

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedAbout how many artboards are you envisioning and what are their sizes? Are these mobile artboards or web? We can definitely go larger but at that point you are left with a pretty unwieldy document no?
Thank you for the feedback.

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedWhat platform are you testing XD on? Cmd-space transient zoom should work just fine on Mac.

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedCurrently for performance reasons we only use the thumbnail version of the symbol as the system drag and drop image. The actual item's center is placed relative to the center of the thumbnail. Some symbols can be multiple viewports tall (large artboard for instance), so we don't use the full size.
Are there other apps that work differently or closer to what you'd imagine for reference?

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedActually we've gotten pretty good feedback on the fact that localized/contextual object hierarchy was a welcome change. e.g. When working on an artboard the layers panel only displays a hierarchy representing that artboard, not the entire document. etc. These aren't compositing layers at all.
Can you provide a specific usage scenario where an alternative representation is important?

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedHi Birgit. FWIW we actually do have a two week cadence for our engineering sprints, but we go through rigorous acceptance testing and vetting of each release, so that's why we release every (4) weeks generally, still a fairly aggressive target for a multi-platform product IMHO.

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedSo would about 1/2 the size do it for you? Perhaps size of the curve control point handles?

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedHow would a drag affordance for a single artboard work for you? e.g. Let's say if you dragged an artboard between two others it would do the housekeeping and layout necessary to move the others aside and apply the default margins appropriately?
In the mean time for your OCD, when you are adjusting manually you should be able to use the distance snap decorations to let you know when you have uniform spacing. e.g. If you drag one artboard away from it's neighbor artboards then back again you should see the ping snap decorations appear showing you the 70 unit spacing.

An error occurred while saving the comment Corey Lucier (Adobe) commentedBut you can already set x and y positions right? And there are alignment tools as well, agree that aligning to key would be a nice addition.
So there's the on-canvas gradient editor and the one in the color panel. Is it any easier to select with one or the other ? Just want to clarify.
