Photoshop's "Scrubby Zoom"
(Currently using Windows Beta Version: 0.6.8.6)
I've seen newer implementation of the Zoom tool updated for the Mac version.
However I don't think I've seen "Scrubby Zoom" implemented.
Currently many users don't use a track pad. Using a marque selection is a slower multi-step process to zoom. Using the mouse wheel to zoom also isn't nowhere as fast as the Photoshop's "Scrubby Zoom".
To see what I mean in Photoshop (Windows keyboard shortcut), hold CTRL + Space Bar, and use your mouse to left click & hold, and move from left to right. You'll see your document scrubby zoom, in a much faster, smoother, and instant way, to almost any zoom level.

please add scrubby zoom. Marquee selection zoom is so slow, inaccurate and burdensome. Thank you
Edit: Wow I didn't realize people have been requesting this feature for almost 6 years. It would be so easy to add.

Wow, 5 years later and still no scrubby zoom or flick panning in XD :(. And no insight from the XD team whether this has been considered at all? Very sad.

PLEASE- I'm taking Corsera's UX Design course and we covered Figma but I couldn't wait to get to Adobe XD because I detest marque zooming only to find out that there is no ability to Scrubby zoom?!?
Arghhhh!

Almost four years later I have the same request. I can't emphasize enough how much this would improve working in XD.

The lack of this feature shows, no matter how great the infrastructure around it is - it doesn't let you work as fast as you want to... as you are used to! Despite being from the same software family... shame.
And for all the "there's a workaround for this" -people:
We use workarounds because devs screw up, yes. That doesn't mean you can sell me a hook for a hand! -

Scrubby/Dynamic zoom like Photoshop and Illustrator seems like a necessity with the artboard style interface. It would make navigation so much faster and easier.
Spacebar + CTRL + LMB drag.

I can't believe this feature only has 86 votes! It's essential for people using a mouse with XD. Please add this to the next release 🤞

It's ridiculous that this hasn't been implemented yet. It's one of those features that should have launched with the app.

I use CTRL+Mousewheel Scroll to zoom in and out
Or juse SPACE+CTRL+SCROLL - This will work no matter what tool is active. Spacebar+ctrl actives the zoom. When you release, it returns to the tool you had active before.

I haven't used XD for several years now with how slow development has been, so I wanted to give it another try today. The first thing I attempted to do was go into the preferences, but that hasn't been enabled yet. The second thing I tried doing was scrubby zoom, which also isn't possible. It is available in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
+1 for this feature request!

Zoom function the same as with Illustrator and Photoshop.

I think maybe what is requested here is something like Photoshop's Scrubby Zoom featured that allows a fairly smooth (and precise) way to zoom in and out of a document.
I agree this how I would expect XD to function as well. It would also be ideal if XD also supported flick panning like Photoshop, alongside the scrubby zoom.
Ever since these two features were introduced in PS quite a while ago, they've become indispensable features and it would be natural for them to be carried over in an environment like XD where panning and zooming are as normal as object selection.

@Elaine If I understand correctly he / she is talking about how the zoom tool is working in XD compared to say PS or AI. In the latter ones you click and drag to zoom in and out whereas in XD it is more of a "zoom to selection" type thing. This is also not optimal for graphic-tablet usage as you have a rather hard time zooming out (e.g. it is not really feasible and I personally therefore use the zoom tool only to zoom in and zoom out using cmd / ctrl and - combo).
