When dragging gradient endpoints in canvas, they will snap to the edges and centerlines of the shape's bounds. This makes it relatively easy to get 0 or 90 degree angles -- no need to hold down Shift.

But two areas that would be improved by this feature request are:
    - Precisely setting other angles, like 45 degrees
    - Switching between 0 and 90 degrees even faster, without having to drag each endpoint and wait for it to snap

A bit similar to https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13355802-tab-through-repeat-grid-text-layers, except this one tabs though objects that are siblings (instead of equivalents in each grid cell), and it tabs through all objects instead of just editing text.

We’re crafting a purely UWP experience, which means following UWP design guidelines. We hate to disappoint, but it’s unlikely that we’ll be moving in the direction of including a top menu bar any time soon, as UWP removes the top menu bar entirely, pushing file operations into the hamburger menu and object commands into the property inspector and the context menu.

@Elaine: I think https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12939069-set-spacing-between-objects-to-specific-number-of-pixels covers the "specific amount of space" request, while this item here covers the ability to adjust spacing via direct manipulation like what we have in Repeat Grid.

Also note: this is closely related to https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13623243-change-spacing-between-objects-by-dragging -- which is about setting spacing _visually_ by dragging or resizing on canvas.

AdminPeter Flynn (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

Note: you should be able to do spacing evenly already using the Object > Distribute commands in Adobe XD. I think that's similar to the "Evenly" option in Fireworks (if not, please let us know how you'd like XD's Distribute commands to be different).

I've edited the title of this request to focus on the piece that's totally missing in XD: setting spacing to a specific value in pixels.

This is something we’d like to get more feedback on.

    a) Some apps (such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign) behave the way XD does now: reducing fill opacity (not overall object opacity) keeps the whole shadow visible but reduces its opacity in proportion with the fill color’s opacity. At zero fill opacity, the shadow is completely gone along with the fill (unless you have a border, in which case you have a thin ring-shaped shadow left).

    b) Other apps (such as Photoshop or Sketch) behave differently: reducing fill opacity leaves the shadow’s opacity at full strength, but clips the shadow so you don’t see it through the translucent fill. At zero fill opacity, in the middle of the shape you can see what’s behind it completely unobscured, but outside the shape’s edges you still see the drop shadow at full strength.

Which one do people prefer? Do you need to…

AdminPeter Flynn (Software Engineer, Adobe) commented  ·

James: just fyi, XD does support blurring on shapes. Just open the dropdown where it says "Background Blur" and change it to "Object Blur."

Thanks for the clarification, Sascha. I've tweaked the description above to help make that more clear.

As a workaround, note that you can hold down Shift to snap the angle of the control points' tangent line to 15-degree increments. This might help a bit, at least, with keeping your control points consistently placed.

Note: as a workaround, you can use Cmd-1 as a shortcut to zoom to 100% -- you can do that with your left hand without taking your right hand off the mouse.

I've edited the original description a bit to focus on the "task list" aspect specifically.

The other pieces of UXpin-like functionality that were mentioned in the description are tracked as separate suggestions here:

    * Record every click user makes while using prototype: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12939333-record-screen-clicks-while-using-shared-prototype
    * Record user's face while using prototype: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12939339-record-video-of-users-face-while-using-shared-prototype

If you're interested in those features, please upvote these links too. Thanks!

Note: there’s a limited version of this feature already available. If you select an existing piece of text and then leave it selected while you use the Text tool to create new text, its style will match the piece of text you had selected.

Note: if Adobe XD supports a notion of component "states" in the future (see https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13031871-multiple-states-inside-symbols), I'd expect this feature would let custom keyboard triggers drive the state of a single component/symbol on the artboard too, rather than just transitioning to a whole new artboard as described above.

I've updated the title & description to clarify based on Derek's response.

    Thanks for the feedback!
