Set Default Style for Text Tool
Description:
Once I select a font in TEXT panel I want this font to be default font every time I use the Text tool. Until I change it again.
Why is this valuable to you:
Now you have to change font every time when you use Text tool — bad usability. Slows down the workflow.
Additional request 1:
Also, it would be nice to set a base font size for the project. So that every time I use Text tool I'm suggested this exact size.
Additional request 2:
Possibility to set up default global font sizes for <p>, <h1>, <h2>, <h3> etc. And ability to scale them relatively to each other like they do it here: http://www.modularscale.com (Editor's note: For this request, please upvote https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12934134-global-reusable-text-styles instead).
Note: there’s a limited version of this feature already available. If you select an existing piece of text and then leave it selected while you use the Text tool to create new text, its style will match the piece of text you had selected.

For the record, as with nearly every feature I have requested or voted on in this forum, you can already do this in Figma.

It has been 5 years. Just add an option under Edit -> Preferences for Default Font and let us select it there.

Setting default text properties (Font, Size, Style, etc....) per project would be most helpful.

Every time I wanna insert a new text box on XD, I have to create the text box, type a text and then, only after I typed my text, I'm able to apply a character style from the ones I have on the assets panel. The problem is that XD saves in its memory the last text size I used last, and sometimes it's a big size, so every time I have to reduce text size to fit in the bounding box, so it's an extra work.
There could be a way to insert a text directly from a character style, without having to type a text before and only then applying a character style. It would be so much time saver if I could insert a text right from a character style already saved on my assets panel. I tried to double-click or dragging and drop a character style to my artboard to see if XD would create a text box exactly with that character style settings, but it didn't work. It's always an unnecessary work having to firstly add a text box, insert any text and after apply a style.

Yeah seriously...basic functionality omitted for no apparent reason. IT'S ALMOST 2020, ADOBE. WTF

Note on the _limited_version of the feature described above...
You have to select the "area text" box, not the text itself, Copy it (CMD+C), THEN you can can use the type tool to create new text with that copied style.

Even just remembering styles when copying and pasting text would be good

OMG !! The adobe XD text tool is an absolute pain in the a** to work with. It is so annoying . Every freaking time i use the text to i have to change the color , style and font again and again . I cannot change the properties before I type something . If I try too ,(when i click outside) it just goes back to the default properties. C'mon man just fix this in the next update . It is really annoying . I dont know how others are using it up till now .

Let user choose one of these options in settings: a) apply the last used text style b) use document default styles (which user can set up or use system default)

Please, please fix this! For me this is the most annoying bug in whole XD since I started with it two years ago. With every new realease I hope that it is finally fixed but it never happens.

+1 to the "Additional Request 2"
I would love to set up style sheet for my text and then apply that to all my text areas. This way if the font face gets changed partway into the project I can easily change it in one spot.
Right now I am having to manually update every last text area in my document. Its a real pain.
The plus side of doing this is that once again you are getting XD closer to working the way that code does.

Still under review?!
Not only will I never use the current default font family, we can't even change the font upon entry. We actually have to type the text first, then go back and modify it.Every time.
It get that there a several work-arounds. Basically, I duplicate text now because the tool is so frustrating.
How hard can it be to expose the default font in Properties somewhere?!

There is a plugin called "Selection" - allows you to choose one object on your art board or global art boards that will change everything "like" that object based on a list of criteria. I.E. font size, shape, color, etc..

Why has this not happened yet? UGH so tedious to change constantly.

P.S. I agree with Anonymous on July 27 that this should be handled as a bug. It's MVP.

This is just like "Change default fill and stroke settings (color, etc.) used when drawing new shapes". How is this not totally obvious?
I love this tool, but having to configure text styles over and over and over again is a major SHOW STOPPER.

Inherit Text Settings - This feature is not working anymore:
"If you select an existing piece of text and then leave it selected while you use the Text tool to create new text, its style will match the piece of text you had selected"
(I'm using XD version 10.0.12.9 on macOS)

Please add this in! even when you copy a section of text and paste it, it goes back to Segoe UI AND a different font color that I never use. The color is just off enough that I catch it most of the time, but can be missed on occasion when working quickly.

I like the way Indesign works and handles the font-family types. Setting a font-family for the complete project is a very nice feature for XD.
