What I really need is the ability to right click on a symbol and choose:

1 - Swap Symbol which lets me pick a different symbol from my library and drops it in place of the original

2 - Duplicate Symbol which lets me enter a new name and then make changes to create a derivation of the original symbol without having to ungroup and then reconstruct and rename all sub elements

    Yes, this would be perfect:

"I think the default should be to replace only one, and Alt drag or whatever to replace them all."

    also:
3 - When the Symbol name is the same as the Instance name, the Symbol name should be automatically updated when any instance of exactly the same name is modified.

Hey Ryan! Definitely something I’ve been looking for as well!

I can safely say this is a feature we’d all like to see in XD.

+1 on this. I mostly use 1600 x 900. What this means is I have to enter the size over and over again every time I create a new file. Would be great if it at least remembered the last size I used. even better if I could define my own default sizes or templates and replace the iPhone, iPad, and Web options with my own templates. I never use those three options.

Note: there’s a limited version of this feature already available. If you select an existing piece of text and then leave it selected while you use the Text tool to create new text, its style will match the piece of text you had selected.

P.S. I agree with Anonymous on July 27 that this should be handled as a bug. It's MVP.

This is just like "Change default fill and stroke settings (color, etc.) used when drawing new shapes". How is this not totally obvious?

I love this tool, but having to configure text styles over and over and over again is a major SHOW STOPPER.

Remember and use the last settings for shape and fill. How is this not completely obvious? When would it ever make sense to default to some hard coded values? As it is, I have to change Fill Color, Border Color, and Border Size every single time I draw a shape. I spend way more time doing that than I do with my actual design. I love this tool and have been waiting several years for it, but like others have said, this is a major SHOW STOPPER.
