Change default fill and stroke settings (color, etc.) used when drawing new shapes
It's quite frustrating that every time I use the shape tools, I have to remove the stroke and change the fill.
Like in ID and AI, it would be useful if the object fill and stroke remembers the previous settings, or a default could be somehow set.

Having this for all those settings (like shadow, blur, etc.) would be extremely helpful.

As it is normal for programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and all the other Adobe Programs, XD is still missing out on a Preference-(Presettings-)Panel.
As ideas like a Grid by 4 or 8 Pixels are growing more and more, there is no option to reset the arrow key to a custom value, you only get 1 or 10 Pixels movment, which costs so much more time compared to the workflow if you could choose this finally by yourself.
The same goes with Font and Color, you always get the same value of gray for borders or even a border at all - no body needs this.
Please at a panel to preset some standard stuff for everyone like they really need it. Otherwise we just need to do the same corrects over and over very time and very day.
We really spend (and waste) a lot of our life time in your program guys!

If I am creating a primitive shape, every new eg. rectangle has this annoying border and white fill - as a designer, having created a eg. fill red border none rectangle I would like my next rectangle to be like the last one so I do not have to constantly remove borders/fills on newly created primitives.
In other words make XD more like the excellent and trusty Illustrator while implementing emulation of CSS properties and js behaviours. Please stop with this 'millennial streamlining' bs.

** Work Around **
In ID simply use a text box > press escape and fill as required.

Judging by the date this thread was started it looks like this isn't going to be implemented.

I'm using a kind of "workaround" that has the basic shape and fills, outline/no outline saved as a "base" file. I open that and at least have a head start on what I need for most projects. My needs for XD are very simple, but having to change the fill and outline options every time I create a new shape is really a time waster!

What is the answer to this? I just had a virtual chat with a support person and all they said was to refer to the shape article link he sent me. This S*it is driving me crazy wtf Adobe.

RE: the default stroke color on a shape, I figured out that if you change it to none before you name the file that it holds true for that file.

With your graphic styles window open, create a line on your artboard with the settings you'd like. With the line not selected, hold alt/option, click and drag the line onto the default graphic styles thumbnail. I have this setting established in a specific workspace, so not sure how to do so as a permanent setting. Hope this helps!

Browsers use outer stoke. We all design for Browsers. Let us set the default to Outer. Having to always change from inner to outer is a dumb problem to have. LFG!

most times creating a box shape i have to deselect the border style... is it possible to save a preset without border. In PS and InDesign there is a possibilty for that if I open the program and make my presets. When I create a new project I have this settings. Or: In every case without a border.
As well I dont understand that keyboard shortcuts are so different from Adobe product to Adobe product. A lot of people comming from PS or InDesign... (Illustrator is worst in terms of shortcuts).
I miss a proper masking option in XD... One Shape, 2 elements I wanna place inside...

The way standard elements in Adobe XD look, when I use the tool for the first time (rectangle, circle, whatever) are not how I want them to be. I would love to define a style of an element, let's say dark grey color, no border as a "Default". It can be for all shape-tools but it would help me since the current default "only outline" is not working for me since I rarely use outlines for shapes. See Sketches feature for this.

the stroke is only one click so it doesn't bother me too bad HOWEVER having to manually add a pure white and pure black swatches to each document is a pain. Would be nice if they were there by default.

Joining the band wagon here - pretty ridic we have a stroke added as the default. As every other designer has said, 99% of the time, we don't need that. Please fix.

+1 infuriating. Also likely the reason I can't delete certain colors from the swatch palette that are not within a project but holding somewhere in space.

PLEASE FIX THIS. The default is literally the opposite of what you're going to do 99% of the time.

PLEASE FIX THIS. It's already Indesign 2020. Come on!!!

This is infuriating. I have to turn off the border every single time because I NEVER want this by default. Please turn this off by default so we can all star saving time and enjoying the software more.

A fix for this would be very welcome.
Can't remember ever having a shape that required both a stroke + fill by default… Most commonly unchecking the stroke box 99% of the time when drawing solids.
