When I create buttons in Xd, I want to save them as a component, add a hover state to it and add a shadow so it looks lifted. Right now Xd only supports changing color, outline and maybe size but managing shadows is not possible. Please add!

I get tired posting stuff on UserVoice. Maybe I simply don't get what XD is for because all of the other Adobe products support stuff like this. Is XD more of a prototyping tool? Are we supposed to design in Photoshop and simply make stuff interactive in XD? I don't get it.

It would be great if the tool would snap for both the outside of the box as well as the actual font. This way you can align stuff with the actual font as well as the text-Box. Sounds like lots of dev work tbh

I can’t comment on the state of design, but what I can do for you is to merge the other story into this one, which will notify all of the other people who upvoted for it. That being said, it’s likely that people are beginning to go all-vector, which negates the need for bitmap 9-scaling if you have fixed point corners.

I mean saving might not be needed but opening files.

I would need this to move clients and teams from Figma to XD since lots of projects are in Figma these days and from Sketch stuff was easy to convert (and people too) but now stuff needs to stay in Figma since there is no export for it in XD.

I know Figma works differently: Supports multiple shadows, fills, has arcs, has inner shadows (all the stuff XD still needs) but a basic import to get things moving would be great.

This is something we’d like to get more feedback on.

    a) Some apps (such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign) behave the way XD does now: reducing fill opacity (not overall object opacity) keeps the whole shadow visible but reduces its opacity in proportion with the fill color’s opacity. At zero fill opacity, the shadow is completely gone along with the fill (unless you have a border, in which case you have a thin ring-shaped shadow left).

    b) Other apps (such as Photoshop or Sketch) behave differently: reducing fill opacity leaves the shadow’s opacity at full strength, but clips the shadow so you don’t see it through the translucent fill. At zero fill opacity, in the middle of the shape you can see what’s behind it completely unobscured, but outside the shape’s edges you still see the drop shadow at full strength.

Which one do people prefer? Do you need to…

@peter Option B. You have more control over the overall situation since you can still use the overall transparency of the object to reduce the overall opacity.

I think this is something to talk to the Milanote people about but having an Adobe XD plugin for seeing the moodboards would be ace and I already mentioned that on their feature-request site but they are very focused on what the general public needs and Adobe XD doesnt seem to be their prio.
