I’ve tweaked the title so it covers only exporting animation to GIF format. This will help keep our feature list fine-grained so we can get a better picture of which are the most important.

For the other formats that were originally mentioned here:

  • Export animation as a video — exporting to MOV (QuickTime) is supported now, via the Record button in the Preview window. If you need to save in a different video format, please file a new suggestion with details.
  • Export animation as HTML/CSS/JS — please upvote https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13198020-export-html-css-animation-code
  • Export animation as Flash SWF — please file a new suggestion if you need to export to this format.

It is extremely frustrating that a widely known format still has not found its way to Adobe XD. I do not want to spend the time to convert a gif into an mp4. I just want to upload a gif link or simply upload my gif into my work file with an auto animate function so that when I drop in my file, the preview will show automatically. I keep having to send my clients/team separate gif files and let them "imagine" it in motion. Really kills the thrill of the design. Please add this feature ASAP.

edit: I don't want to use a plugin for this. This should be part of our monthly subscription fee. I'm not willing to pay extra for this option that I find absolutely crucial in a design phase. 2022 trend is going to bring out a lot of motion to websites and we demand donuts and gifs. But mostly gifs! jigs, gifs, we needs them all. we wants them all. give us the sauce!

How was this request submitted almost 6 years ago, and there is still no option to export animations? It seems like a simple fix for Adobe to implement.

Kind request to make provision for inclusion of GIF file format...as XD is not supporting GIF ...so not able to incorporate animated gifs in project.

Please add this feature! I love the auto-animation feature but I'm frustrated since I can't export it.

I am surprised that Adobe XD
    - Doesn't maintain animation settings when exporting to After Effects
    - Doesn't have a .mov export setting

I am my colleagues are shocked that the most 'convenient' way to export an animation is by playing the animation and using a screen capture program. This is Adobe! I expect these programs to work together.

I have used screen cap software to make Gifs in XD but being able to export them with transparency natively in the software would be more appreciated than I can express in text. Please do this thing, if not for me then my dog whom I would be able to give more pets with the time saved making Gifs.

Perfect for sharing in websites (GIF) and social media in video. The current option to record video is not productive because it forces you to edit the recording. If you convert the video recording to GIF the file is very heavy when creating frames even of the moments of pause. It should be like the Photoshop timeline that when preparing a GIF you can set the pause points to create lightweight files perfect for web pages.

Not sure if this is possible but I usually record a preview of my animations then convert the MP4 to a gif. It would be great if I could utilize the desktop preview recording option to save as a gif, from the moment the animation starts and finishes.

Mostly making gifs for social assets.
