Fixed elements should always be in front
First, thanks for the great new feature of fixed elements / sticky objects. It's wonderful, and simple.
I found that they're very easy to setup, but a pain to maintain. Once you add any other objects to a page with a fixed element, your new object is on top in z-order. So every single time you add an object, you have to remember to bring your fixed elements to the front again. If you forget to do this, your fixed elements will end up being covered up by the new one. Since your new objects may be way below the scroll area, you won't notice this overlap until you test the prototype, so it could go undetected while designing.
This would be less of an issue if we had master pages or could create reusable navigational pieces that could maintain their z-order across multiple artboards. But as it is, when I have over a hundred artboards, and my nav bar is repeated on every one, it becomes a maintenance nightmare to always make sure the headers, footers, and FAB buttons are in front. And it looks buggy and embarrassing when they start flashing around in presentations.

I would love to be able to toggle some kind of "always in front / fixed to front" option on header elements.
In the meantime I'm reliant on a large colorful sticky note on my monitor that reads "🌼 BRING HEADER TO FRONT ✨" for each time I add anything to my artboards haha

I absolutely need this one. I constantly add things to several artboards that have navigations and footers that should be on top all the time.
There should be an option to enable "always on top" that keeps certain elements on top always and their order can also be managed, but they stay on top part of Layers list. I have another request that is related to this one: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/19612669-update-interaction-wires-across-symbols-keep-in-s

this should be optional, I can think of countless ways something stiky would NOT be in front.

Put it as a checkbox or whatever... in the right hand side tool section. Just as an option for "Always in front" on selected element.

This would be amazing. To Armando's point, you would need an ability to choose where you are pinning an object, as sometimes you want a locked section behind and sometimes you want a top-locked section as James' link suggests.

not really, as sometimes you can make cool effects where scrolling moves a section above the fixed background.

Sounds like the same bug I found. I reached out and they have already fixed this.
