Select artboards + objects that are outside the artboards (pasteboard) at the same time
I am creating a screen flow diagram with annotations between each artboard. I've pasted arrows between the artboards to indicate the flow of the experience between sreens.
If I'd like to move multiple artboards I've noticed that all of my arrows / annotations outside of the artboards aren't selected with the multiple artboards. It is extremely time consuming to move the outside elements after moving multiple artboards.
I read that other designers wish there could be a way to annotate or draw arrows between artboards. Perhaps that would solve my issue. I just want to show a screen / state diagram of the UI as well as jump to prototype mode when I need to.
The best way to recreate the issue I'm experiencing is by going into your starter file and try to move a few artboards with their respective annotations and you'll see my frustration. It becomes weird if you try to add in a new screen in the middle of the experience.
Sorry for the false alarm! Someone pointed out to me that I interpreted the request incorrectly. While you can now select objects both in the artboard and on the pasteboard, you cannot yet select objects on the pasteboard and complete artboards themselves.

Please add the ability to reposition any selected elements on the canvas.
Selected elements could consist of say, Artboards + Images + Groups. As ideas develop, there are times when I'd hit the end of the canvas.
Or to reposition accompanying screenshots along with the Artboard. It's common to have images or other components "littered" around artboards.
It's a pain to have to carefully select the same elements in zoomed out view, and reposition them according to their type. Which doesn't really make sense...
Infinite canvas request had been raised, but it doesn't solve the current issue of not being able to select any items and drag them around all at once.

Looking for this feature as well. I may be an oddity, but I start work at axis 0/0. When a project gets big I cannot keep working to the right as the size of the board does not expand... so, I have to move my art boards to the top left corner. I can't move my notes and labels along with them. I really should start working at "-22,000/-12,000" like a sucker. LOL.

I desperately need this feature in the project I'm working on! I've hit the edge of the pasteboard on a large project and need to move eeeeeverythiiiingg back to center. I'm going to try the workaround Bart suggested but would love a way to make this easier.

Guys common wake up. It's so basic and you're a big company and not even able to implement something that works... Thats patetic

Please add the ability to be able to drag and select items that aren't on an artboard along with artboards.
For example, if I have a whole website design all in one document, sometimes I will add text labels above groups of artboards, that aren't connected to any artboard. Then if I need to zoom out and move a bunch of artboards around all at once, my labels don't get selected when I drag select the group. So I have to individually move those items which is a pain and takes a lot of time.

I'm having the same struggle but found some kind of workaround. First you drag a new artboard over all your artwork. Drag all the artboards, including the big new one, to the position you prefer. Then select the layers ONLY in the big new artboard from the Layers panel and cut them, delete the new artboard and paste the content. It should appear nicely next to the the artboards you actually want to keep.

I'm creating lo-fi wires for class. I've created art-boards to represent each screen. I then wanted to create annotations for those screens, outside the artboards. So in other words that annotation grid was made within the pasteboard. Bu then I wanted to be able to clone the combination of artboards and annotations so I can template the process, and it seem that I can't move an artboard and a folder within the pasteboard at the same time.

THIS. I've found with all of my XD requests that I'm never "the only one."

For a product that is designed to create user experiences, the experience using the product is sorely lacking. That it's not possible simply select all objects (a mix of pasteboard elements and artboards themselves) in one selection action is really quite mindboggling and actually severely adversely impacts productivity for many users. I wonder if any actual user research was done when designing the product? So many basic features lacking, even as of today June 11, 2020.

This was shared in 2016 and it's still not implemented. This is a fairly basic usability feature that Sketch, Figma, and others have had since day one.
Please add this.

Yes please. It's so frustrating when you have annotations like already mentioned by others. It's an INSANE pain in the ass for a document with 100s of artboards to having to move text & artboards separately. It just doesn't work because text will then flow into artboards and disappear.

Crazy this has not been done yet. So annoying that you can't select/move artboards and objects on the paste board at the same time.
How are people meant to handle annotations and titles outside of their artboards when reorganising their document?

I'd like to add one request. When adding a new artboard or duplicating an artboard, XD should honor objects in the pasteboard. Currently XD just ignores pasteboard objects and delete them with NO warning in order to secure space for the new artboard. This behavior is unacceptable. I usually have comments and temporary objects around artboards, so I rarely duplicate artboard. Instead, copy an artboard, scroll canvas to find an open space, paste the artboard, then drag it to the place where it should be. Doesn't sound like productive, does it?

This really needs to be resolved. Based on this forum your users have been requesting this since 2016. Most designers will want to be able to move things around easily on the canvas (especially when Xd has such a small, limited canvas). This will usually involve moving artboards and elements that are not on artboards at the same time.

Currently you can only select and move artboards OR objects on the pasteboard. I want to move the artboard and the object next to it on the pasteboard together. Especially since I create variations of element on the pasteboard next to my artboard designs. You can do this is sketch because all objects are selectable. This also helps organising and moving your content/designs/artboards/variations quickly and easily around in the canvas. PS. also the canvas isn't infinite -- that's another issue.
In this screenshot attached, I've dragged over all the content, but XD only selects the artboard and ignores the pasteboard objects, so you can't move them together. It's a two step process. First move artboards and then move the pasteboard objects (nasty if they were perfectly aligned to the artboard).
