for now I realized an easy workaround to do multiple layers at once is to shift+select the layers you want to hide and use the key commands to show/hide [CMD + ,] (also works for lock/unlock [CMD + L])

If I have multiple items selected and I click to show/hide or lock/unlock it should perform the action for all of the selected items.

If I have 3 items selected in the layer panel and I click the eye to hide a layer it would hide all 3 items so I don't have to click hide 2 more times. This should work the same for lock.

    Hi Elaine,

I was thinking when you right click on an asset you would be able to select reveal in assets (currently that option is not there if asset panel is not open), not during hover. So yes you would lose where you are in the layers panel but it would be of your choosing because you would have clicked reveal in assets panel. I would assume then if you switch back to the layers and you have not clicked on another element, the same layer would be selected so you would not "lose" anything.

I’m more wanting to be able to right click on an object and be able to click reveal color in assets regardless if the assets panel is open or not. Right now if layers panel is open and you right click an object the option to reveal colors in asset panel it is not there, you have to switch it to the assets panel then go back to the object and try again. I don’t think it would be a problem for anyone losing where they are in the layers if it hot-swapped you right on over to the assets side of things because you would have intentionally clicked to go there.

Right now even though I know this is how it works I find myself forgetting to check to see what panel is open before I check out a color. Like I’m in the zone looking at stuff and I’m like hey is that the right gray color, so I right click and I’m like oh snap! The option isn’t there to reveal it, now I gotta mouse down to the corner and switch panels. (the CMD Y shortcut is too far and confusing for one handed use). I don’t think anybody loses anything by allowing that kind of interaction and it just seems easier to not have to remember what panel is open when you are making sure your colors are spec’d out.

I could see an improvement to this kinda thing by allowing both the assets and layers panel (plug-ins too) the ability to be open all at once by converting them to floating panels that can be docked side by side, or on another monitor, similar to illustrator and photoshop. Just last week I was going back and forth over and over again double clicking through groups and layers making sure I was on the background of a button, then going back to colors, changing colors, then to the next screen...rinse and repeat. The way the shortcut cycles through and closes the panel just wasn’t making sense so I was constantly mousing back and forth from artboard selecting and object, showing layers, double-checking the right layer was selected, then back down to switch to colors, selecting colors etc. just thinking aye! there has to be a better way every time!

This is something we’d like to get more feedback on.

    a) Some apps (such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign) behave the way XD does now: reducing fill opacity (not overall object opacity) keeps the whole shadow visible but reduces its opacity in proportion with the fill color’s opacity. At zero fill opacity, the shadow is completely gone along with the fill (unless you have a border, in which case you have a thin ring-shaped shadow left).

    b) Other apps (such as Photoshop or Sketch) behave differently: reducing fill opacity leaves the shadow’s opacity at full strength, but clips the shadow so you don’t see it through the translucent fill. At zero fill opacity, in the middle of the shape you can see what’s behind it completely unobscured, but outside the shape’s edges you still see the drop shadow at full strength.

Which one do people prefer? Do you need to…

Our team needs the ability to update links that have been shared in the past, and preferably give them a project name that can be easily remembered. Currently when we share a link (link A), and then to work on another flow and share that link (link B) it is not possible to go back and update that first link (link A), the update link button is only for the last prototype (Link B) We are constantly making new links is messy and confusing. Sorting this out would be a huge help.

having this side panel text editor as an option would also allow me to edit the text of a component by selecting it in the layers panel and not having to click into the actual text box on the art board. Often times the text is either behind something the blocks it from being double clicked into, or it could be inside a mask and off the screen in which case it is not possible to edit the text without turning layers on and off and moving things around to be able to get to the text.

I have a component of a button, I use that button all over the place. I use multiple instances of this button, even several times on a single art board. When I have an instance of this button used 20 times and I need to change the text inside, it is very time consuming to go through all the screens and edit them individually. I would like to be able to edit the text separately for the buttons I am selecting on multiple art boards. I don't want to edit the master and reset them all because I am using the button in other instances elsewhere with different text, and also because I have already overridden them several times to make them look like they have different active/selected/tap states. If the text was also editable through a panel on the right side I could select whichever instances of the component I want to change, edit and override the text in the panel and viola I've changed the text on several buttons all in one fell swoop.
