Copy from XD & paste into Illustrator (or Photoshop)
For any given vector pieces, to be able to copy from XD and cut to illustrator. We can do it in the other way for now, but it would be great if it could work the other way too.
To rework an icon for example, or trick an object with more advanced tools like in illustrator. Why ? It's faster than to export to svg and export it back again. It would also allow to keep your objects scaled the same way.
This feature is now available in the March release! If you don’t see an update, select the … icon in the Creative Cloud desktop app and select “Check for App Updates.” If you have further feedback on this feature, please feel free to file a new ticket!
7 month for svg copy/paste? Really Adobe?
I want to achieve this scenario.
Fonts with XD (path translated) created
Create a path object with XD
Copy the created objects
Using the Clipboard paste into illustrator
This object is a vector format.
This scenario is feasible? (SVG export, efficiency is not good)
Rectangular and round in the Clipboard in vector format with illustrator.
Hey Melanie, I know how you feel. I need this badly. TO get you out of your jam, you can export art boards to PDF or SVG though to bring back in, I know it's crap but it does get you across the line... Go well
IN NEED OF THIS SO BADLY RIGHT NOW... In fact I made the mistake of building an entire app in XD because its more friendly that building in illustrator but now i need to bring it into illustrator to make some changes and be able to animate it in after effects and I CANT!! so im screwed and having to rebuild it in illustrator. PLEASE FIX!!
Where are we with this??? We need the ability to copy and paste vector assets to and from Illustrator to XD and keep integrity of artwork.

Will be it available for Windows in next update?

The creative cloud library solution sounds like it would, but I feel a quick copy/paste from XD to Illustrator cuts out the middle man. Especially if you don't want the element to remain a library asset. Now you have to delete it. Just seems like extra work for something that you just want to work with quickly.
Very critical to have a feature to copy/past from XD to PSD or AI. Export feature would be fantastic. Many of our developers still use Photoshop or Illustrator for sampling.
I agree with the others that you either need to be able to save an XD artboard as a PDF and be able to open it in Illustrator or AfterEffects, or be able to paste things into Illustrator. Demian, I am a really experienced graphic designer and the whole library thing you are talking about is too hard and abstract. Almost no one actually does that.
Full compatibility between Illustrator and Xd, meaning you can also copy a vector from Xd into Illustrator and keep the anchor points editable instead of resulting in a raster image.
Demian Borba, we would only save assets if we are going to reuse those graphics over and over again. But in this case, the reason why we want to copy to Illustrator is to modify the graphic. And if we feel the graphic is refined and perfect, we would save it to CC Library.
Why should we save the graphic first in CC Library, Edit in Illustrator, and then save again? This process is cumbersome.
Completely agree. Copy-paste shortcut support needs to be done. Honestly, found this issue when trying to move assets to After Effects, realizing I needed to go to Ps first. Going a step beyond, it'd actually be nice to be able to import Xd artboards or assets into Ae for those of us working with motion and interaction design for apps.
This is a must. I just tried pasting from XD to illustrator and was disappointed to see that it pasted a bitmap. I completely expected vector art. I was hoping to be able to paste something into illustrator and then save that into my library for later reuse.
Guys this is absolutely critical for me to be able to get the team across XD on medium / large scale projects. Exporting editable designs to AI/PS or copy paste functionality is going to be the difference between using XD or not.
also agree with others that swell as CC libraries (which would also be cool) it does need the function to just copy and paste. There would be so many occasions to do this during the design process with small and "in progress" elements, before you'd wish to clutter your libraries with these micro details. Also agree a copy or save as or export page to illustrator (and photoshop) would be incredible. I spend a lot of time designing between assets in illustrator and XD (and Photoshop). So please makes this happen :)
any idea when this will land? (i.e when will creative cloud support land - i guess?)
I can paste elements form illustrator or photoshop into XD, but can't paste elements from XD into illustrator/photoshop.
Allow copying and pasting art boards from XD directly into Illustrator as art boards, and all elements can be edited as vectors.
Really need this feature. It's a bit useless without tbh.

This is a must.
CC Library won't help for favoring edibility.
I would choose copy and paste over CC Library any day of the week.
Not to mention copy and paste is great for small quick projects.
