Visible preview of invisible object (no opacity or fill) when dragging / moving / resizing

If an object's opacity is set to zero and you then 'alt-drag' it, there's no preview of the new object's edges, so you can't see what you're alt-dragging. Illustrator solved this by using the object's 'Outline mode' preview when alt-dragging.

Resize/move feedback for invisible shapes definitely could be improved, and we are tracking that issue. As a workaround, you can toggle the fill or stroke on for a moment, adjust the shape, and then toggle it back off.

If you’re using an invisible rectangle to define a hit area for Prototyping mode, you may also be interested in upvoting, which would let you more easily define interaction hotspots that don’t match up exactly with the size & shape of any of your visible artwork.

Yeah this is an absolute killer. Very poorly thought out and seems to be something that has been ignored for years. What an awful experience.

Still an issue in July 2018. In my case, I was wiring up an as-yet empty artboard in prototype mode before anything went onto the Artboard. Much to my surprise, it 'disappeared' when trying to drag the overlay's position around.

    Version: Beta
    1. Create a shape
    2. Remove shapes fill and border
    3. Try to select and move the object

    Expected results
    1. You should be able to select the element from fill area.
    2. You should see the element outline when moving object with mouse drag, arrow keys, shift + arrow keys

    Actual result:
    1. You can only select the element by hitting its outline
    2. When you move the element, the outlines disappear making it hard to position the element. The outlines reappear when the moving is stoped
