I want the seperate prototype links back
I thinks its very annoying that you now force us to present the design specs and prototype in the same share cause now it's impossible to iterate these two documents separately. Most of the times my design specs and my prototypes are different iterations and must be shared separately. Often we iterate different prototypes and we send design specs for just sections of the design, the section that has been accepted for release. With the new setup it's impossible to continuous this strategy and it messes things up. Please give us back the opportunity to share ONE thing at the time! You could for instance make two options in the share section of XD where we could choose to share the specs with or without prototype or at least give us back the chance to share prototype files separately.
As we haven’t seen a response to our question in over three months, I’m marking it as inactive. Please do feel free to file it again if you still want this feature!

@Arun That's not correct. There's no option to select single artboards to be published to either development or prototype. ALL artboards in the document gets published, it is still a matter of all or nothing, just like I pointed in back in July. You should really try to select five artboards on a document containing 40 artboards and see if only the selected artboards get published when you share them in any method. You should try XD yourself and see cause right no I'm a little doubtful that you are actually using the application or if you are reading from a future wish list.
Design Review does not really show a prototype. There's no flow view and all you can do is watch screens get paginated. Again, try and see for yourself. Adobe have been messing around with the same issues for years now, answering wrongfully just makes it worse. When people even working at Adobe are unable to get it right it's hopeless.
So let's sum this up:
NO. You can't select single art boards on a document and publish only them.
NO. There's no way of publishing design specs and prototypes separately.
NO. It's no possible to iterate prototypes and design specs separately.
NO. You have not kept it possible to share prototype files separately. -
Please note that we are going to provide UX flow view along with Grid view that you can switch between. For a design specs link, you will have the option to switch view between Grid and UX flow while viewing it on web.
Hope that will solve your concern about not being able to see your design layout and structure?

@Arun Kaza:
No, that doesn't work at all. I have 200 artboards in one XD document divided into different flow sections. If I select 21 of them that is setup together in a flow and share them for review what happens is that the artboards that have timed animation gets released to CC and those gets played automatically when I click the file in published section of my asset section in CC. If I delete that from the asset section in CC and repeat that exercise of sharing for review in XD but with a different set of artboards the same thing occur. Only the artboards with timed animation is published and they get played automatically. NO other artboard gets published so selecting has NO effect at all. The artboards with the timed animation have NO relation to what I'm actually selecting for sharing in XD. Also, the comment icon generates that prototype mode, same as with double clicking the bracket icon. Where's the logic in that? And when you do either thing the scaling feature is lost. What's the point in that exactly? It just goes on and on. It's a mess.
Doing this from a different client on a different LAN generates the same issue. Same issue also on separate CC accounts, so this is clearly a bug.
Btw, you are writing that "design spec link which has become richer." What do you mean about that exactly? The design specs links have not got richer in any sense of the word, on the contrary they carry prototype links automatically as earlier explained and they are presented in a pointless grid, loosing all connections to the flow setup in XD. How are we supposed to keep track of anything when the artboards are presented like that?! Developers don't understand a thing, stakeholders don't get the flow, I don't understand my own design even. I agree with the other people also complaining about this so called upgrade, it's ruined the whole concept. And why does the artboards shared for development ALSO contain a prototype mode?? As others have explained these are two different iterations. So if the purpose is that share for review is prototype, why do the specs file contain a section for prototype? That shouldn't even carry any content and it shouldn't even be possible to receive any content there automatically, instead there should be checkbox inside the Share menu in XD where we could select prototype or something if we wanted to include that. If not only the specs should be released as it was prior to this last version. It's called giving users the option, something we as designers strive for all the time in our design work.

You can still choose to share a "Design Review" link which is essentially the Prototype or choose to share a "Development" link which is now prototype+specs information for the artboards that you have selected.
Essentially, you do have a way to just share prototype link separately. Its your design spec link which has become richer.
Please let us know if this is not what you are seeing in the build? Thanks!
