This feature is extremely important and is arguably a bug. Not being able to distinguish design backgrounds from the XD prototype background is confusing team members and clients!

Please give us the ability to change the XD prototype background color. Even better, don't encase our prototypes in a frame AT ALL! Present them fully in the browser the way they are meant to be seen.

Attached are two screenshots. One, of the current broken presentation (where the wireframe background is getting lost in the interface background), and one where customization is allowed (and my client can clearly see the boundaries).

This is critical to me at this point. I'm working on my 3rd project now where the client has requested, or the design required gradients in text. The workaround, where we have to ctrl+8 to outline the text, to apply a gradient is such a hassle. It has to be redone every time text changes.

I would love a "Reveal in Explorer/Finder" command. Similar to the menu in After Effects (see screenshot).

Being able to Drag & Drop PSD, AI, EPS, and PDF files into XD and have them function the same as a Smart Object in Photoshop would be an ideal solution. Then users would have the ability to edit those embedded/linked files in the appropriate app.

TLDR; Imported PSD, AI, EPS, and PDF could work just like Photoshop Smart Objects

I would love to be able to assign keyboard shortcuts for all the tools, states, color swapping, fill/border toggle, and tons of other UI elements that I use all of the time.

Thanks for reading and thanks for XD.

This is a bug, not a feature request.

Depending on how XD is feeling at any given moment, Soft Return SOMETIMES works. I have not been able to figure out if it's where the text is coming from (copy/pasted from a document, etc) or if it's the kind of text field I'm using. I've tried pasting from a formatted document, from a plain text document, and manually typing out the copy. Nothing seems to give me a consistent result.

Paragraph spacing should not affect soft returns, but it does. It creates HUGE, TIME CONSUMING problems when setting up text. We have to either forego paragraph spacing and do it manually with unpredictable results, or manually set multiple text boxes and manually set the spacing - which is a ridiculous workflow.

Currently, the align tool will only align selected elements to the artboard. It would be great to have alignment options similar to Adobe Illustrator & InDesign, where the user is given the option to align to artboards, selections, key objects, etc.

Being able to use the align tool to align to the layout or square grid, for instance, would greatly speed up workflows when working with grids. Currently, we have to manually drag elements to grid columns or squares. Snapping is great, but the align tool would be better and faster.

When we need pixel perfection, being able to align to pixels would be amazing. It would save time fixing decimal positions.

Being able to align to selected elements and key objects would be a great time saver too.

Please see the attached example for how this could be implemented. It's a wireframe, a for-instance. Attachments of Illustrator and InDesign align options.

    I support this idea.

Being able to pin elements to their respective z-layer orders would make working on fixed navigation and other UI elements so much easier.

Currently, if you have a fixed navigation you have to set it to the top z-layer over and over again. Every time we add a new element, it's set to the top-most z-position. Being able to set elements like navigation to the top of the stack permanently would fix the issue and save a lot of keystrokes.

    Thanks!

This would be a wonderful feature! You could put the option to pin the layer order right next to "Fix Position When Scrolling", since they go hand-in-hand.

The app shouldn't dictate how we name our assets at all. Add a selector in preferences which turns the "/ = groups" feature on and off.

Why are there decimals at all?
