Pin objects/groups to top of artboard layer order
As you go through a design, objects are created and sequentially stacked on top of each other. This affects Z index and view.
Using things like self created grid/layout systems or objects that are required to stay at the top of the z index get obscure and I spend an awful lot of time reorganizing my layers. Too much time.
To save time - having the ability to "pin" the layer order of groups or objects would be amazing. Additionally, defining group/object stacking order by "pinnable" alphanumeric identification would be terrific. example:
Top Layer — Pin1
Second to — Pin2
Third to top — Pin3
Newest created layer —
and so on..

Can you please add the ability to create multiple layers on an artboard, this would be really helpful for navigations. OR! Instead for things like navigations, add the ability to stay at the top of the layer tree. Put it next to 'Fix position when scrolling' toggle.

I support this idea.
Being able to pin elements to their respective z-layer orders would make working on fixed navigation and other UI elements so much easier.
Currently, if you have a fixed navigation you have to set it to the top z-layer over and over again. Every time we add a new element, it's set to the top-most z-position. Being able to set elements like navigation to the top of the stack permanently would fix the issue and save a lot of keystrokes.
Thanks!

Just wanted to add a comment in support of this feature request as I noticed it was raised in 2017 and is still something that has not been implemented and would be super useful and efficient

1. Description of the feature
When you activate 'Toggle State' in prototype mode, the 'Toggle State' should be above anything else. Similar with z-index: 999.2. Why this is valuable to you
It's just how it should work.3. If possible, an image or video that helps us understand your feature request

Alongside the fix position when scrolling check box. It would be super useful to have another to make the element always on top. That way you can add a sticky header to your design and then not worry about adding to the page later which currently causes new elements to appear above old ones in the z index

Just so you know I have this on my Christmas list for 2021. 🤩

This would be a wonderful feature! You could put the option to pin the layer order right next to "Fix Position When Scrolling", since they go hand-in-hand.

Dear, Adobe XD Developers.
We the UX/UI designers request your assistance & software update in...in all of this! We need this feature! Pinning sticky website headers, CTA buttons, whatever, to the top of the layers panel is integral to our sanity.
Pretty please?

Would love this feature. I can't believe after four years only 151 votes. I feel like I spend far too much time going through artboards manually adjusting layer positions so things scroll properly when you publish the link.

Funny, I went to search for a plugin for this purpose, knowing that Adobe had still not added this feature, and came across this feature request. I had actually made the identical request a couple of years ago. This seems like SUCH an obvious need to me, and SO easy for Adobe to satisfy. Sigh.

I often find myself in need to always have a design element on top of all others. For example if I have a site header.
I know for sure that will be always on the top of any other elements in the screen and all the other elements will always scroll under the top.
Right now if I paste or build an ui element is always place on top of all others so I always have to bring the header to front. That can be very frustrating when there many UI elements and I often forget to do that.
It can be a checkbox like the one with Fixed Position When Scrolling that says Always On Top.
Thanks a lot -

I wonder how this is still not yet done by the developers. How hard can a function like that be to code?

Setting design elements to 'Fix position when scrolling' is a great tool. But sometimes when a project becomes bigger it's pain to always drag the layers/elements that are fixed in position...
So why not add a pin layer feature so that even if you add a thousand new layers the fixed position can always be on top. (with its own way/feature to sort them like how it is)
Upvote if you like to see this feature in Adobe XD.
Thanks! Hope you consider this.

I work a lot with fixed position elements, (Menus, tool bars, edit mode etc)
it would be nice to lock an object or group of elements "always on front" same for backgrounds. So everytime I add something to the design I dont have to click right - bring to front. or to have the need to go to the layers panel to re-arrange the elements. -

I would love macro layer groups similar to other Adobe products. This would allow me to nest certain elements into groups and better control Z indexing.
For example,
1. A top layer group for fixed headers, nav, etc.
2. A middle layer group for content
3. A bottom layer for backgrounds. -

I always have fixed position elements in my designs that I always want as the top layers, for example a site or app header and navigation menus. As I add new elements over the hours, days, weeks and months of design, I have to move the fixed elements back to the top. It's a big pain.
