Adobe XD Version: 10.0.12.9 (Starter), CC Sync 3.0.3.6
The selected "Segoe MDL2 Assets" font doesn't affect the text in the Layers panel even though the respective icon is displayed in the artboard correctly.

Expected result: Show the icon in the Layers panel too.
Actual result: Square is currently displayed.

We’re crafting a purely UWP experience, which means following UWP design guidelines. We hate to disappoint, but it’s unlikely that we’ll be moving in the direction of including a top menu bar any time soon, as UWP removes the top menu bar entirely, pushing file operations into the hamburger menu and object commands into the property inspector and the context menu.

    Hi Elaine.
It sounds quite strange what you are saying as in UWP there is still a control called "Navigation View"
    1. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/design/controls-and-patterns/navigationview
    2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/communitytoolkit/extensions/navigationview
You can also take into consideration how the latest Ms Office apps (Word, Excel...) look like and behave in both the Desktop and the Mobile versions. Even in the mobile one, you can see a navigation menu which pops-up with options and sub-options, i.e. Insert->Pictures, Formulas->Sum, Data->Sort...etc.
    Cheers,
    Marian
