The navigation options in the Prototype Viewer feel incomplete. I love that you can use the back and forth arrow keys, but it is critical to have a mode that behaves like a browser, using history instead of position.

The online Prototype Viewer is better in this sense because it has 'browser-like" functionality, albeit in a strange location: below the prototype. Shouldn't it be located at the upper left?

I wish the local Prototype Viewer/recorder had the same navigation possibilities as the online prototype:

    - back
    - forward
    - page number
    - home

But let's be clear, I’m not suggesting replacing the current location-based navigation with the browser-like navigation. I think you need both.

The current arrow-key navigation is good for design, but with one flaw. I would use it to quickly compare a series of pages for small differences, but the "slide" affordance currently employed to show direction is distracting and redundant. There is ample precedent for using back and forward arrow keys that don't have a slide effect--even non-professionals can do it without getting lost. At a minimum, there should be a preference to remove the slide effect, but I would argue that it should just be removed.

I could even see using XD to story board animations if the slide effect were removed.

If the up and down arrows were added, (I've seen this requested elsewhere) I can imagine an even more robust workflow for storyboarding animations.

To summarize, the local Prototype Viewer needs a more browser-like navigation mode, similar to the online prototype viewer, especially a back button that uses history rather than location.

The current arrow-key navigation in the Prototype Viewer would be infinitely more useful if the slide effect were removed. It would enable quick comparison, like turning layers off and on, but it would be much faster than toggling layers. It could even become a primary tool for storyboarding animations.

Yeah, like the one in Photoshop. In Photoshop it's only useful for very high resolution images. In XD it would be useful for layouts taking up more than 25% of the canvas.
