Overlay doesn't work with scroll
If you have a scrolling art board 2000px high (1366 wide), set a scroll position of 768px. Add an overlay to hot spot to call an overlay panel at say 800px and then as you scroll to the hot spot at 800px click to reveal the overlay and nothing will happen. It is broken by the scroll.
Thanks for your feedback! I’ve moved this report into the Feature Request forum for team to review.
Thanks!
Nina

This is indeed a bug and I am amazed this has not been fixed yet!

Truthfully, this is a bug - but in whichever you want to internally manage this - it needs to be done.

What is the progress on this? Can you please provide an link for where current updates are? This is a very frustrating problem and is affecting demos that I need to do at my job. I found this in the adobe forums and said this was an intended feature? https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2505297
I agree with the comments below, please fix this.

If this is not a bug, please provide a way to do dropdowns in an efficient way without having to repeat whole artboard.

Absolutely a bug. Not sure how this qualifies as a feature request just because it involves scrolling. 90% of the time scrolling is required in apps or sites Adobe. Overlays only work if placed above the fold. The band-aid workaround is to duplicate the entire artboard and treat as a transition instead of overlay.

Seems like making the overlay "fixed position when scrolling" would solve this dependency. It doesn't, but might be an easy solve? We're using XD for web design and it's things like this that are really limiting our ability to prototype and present.

This really needs to be addressed! The more I use XD the more limitations it has! We are in the age of scrollable pages, yet overlays aren't working for this? This needs updated ASAP!

Any update on the overlay function? I would like to use the overlay while being able to scroll.

Wanted to love this. But the fact that overlays can't be custom-positioned in art boards that are set to scroll renders virtually useless what would have been a spectacular new FEATURE as far as my comps are concerned. Please fix this feature's BUG.

Agree with the other comments, this is a bug. Declaring a bug to be known doesn't mean its not a bug. Please re-open so we can vote it up.

I understand it's working as intended, but it's still limiting. Discourages use of overlays 100% unless you have any type of scrolling functionality disabled.

Sorry, but this should be treat as a bug otherwise it won't work most of the cases.
Overlay needs to be placed on a position related to the entire artboard, not viewport; when you scroll overlay position should NOT change.

To add to this..
If your scrollable area is set to 1000px but you have an item below this which you want the overlay to appear so when you scroll down and click it'll show - It's stuck and has to be within the top 1000px. Therefore you cant align it to overlay correctly.
