Auto Save (in case of system crash)
Auto save take away the worry of saving and losing data.
Hi everyone,
With XD versions 8 and 9 we’ve gradually released Auto-Recovery. This is a feature that restores files automatically in the event of an application or system crash. Auto-Recovery is enabled by default and available for both Windows 10 and Mac users.
How it works:
- While editing an XD file, Auto-Recovery runs in the background and stores the edits in a backup file at every 5 seconds. Every time you save the file, the backup is cleaned up from your disk, so there’s no impact on storage.
- In the event of an application or system crash, the backup file is used to restore the last unsaved edits to the original files.
- At next XD launch, the recovered file is available as a recent file in the Start screen or the “File” menu option.
- Recovered files can be identified by the “*” character added at the end of the document title.
- This feature has no impact on XD’s or your device’s speed and performance.
Auto-Recovery is not meant to substitute the workflow of manually saving the file. Continue to save your XD files frequently using the CMD / CTRL –> Save option.
Thank you for your patience and feedback! Update XD to the latest version and let us know if you experience any issues.
Best,
Dan

"FEATURE-NEEDS-MORE-INFO", seriously?
Just a background save to a recovery file would be a life-saver.
A subtle notification when you have unsaved work would be a good training tool also; ie, if there's been user input and the last save was more than 30 min ago.

XD in conjunction with Illustrator and Photoshop has crashed my computer more than once! Last night I swear I saved my project, but it reverted to a previous version and it looks like I lost hours worth of work. It's possible I didn't save it, but auto-save/ recovery would have eliminated this worry.
How is this still an un-fixed problem? It would probably take a single developer an hours worth of work to bang out. You have this kind of product continuity across all of your products, why was auto-save not included from the get-go?
*and what further information is needed? Adobe has auto-save/recovery in all of their other apps, MAKE THE USER EXPERIENCE CONSISTENT.

I just lost a week worth of work because I wasnt aware that my project wasnt getting saved. My computer has turned off several times and restarted for the past week and my wireframes survived it until randomly today my entire final project is gone and for some reason has reverted back to a version from several days ago. i would not ADVERTISE THIS PRODUCT AT ALL without notifying people of the lack of auto save!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's unacceptable that in 2016 an app that works with user input doesn't have auto save option. I have lost hours of work due to XD crash. I just can't believe it, please add this feature as soon as possible.

Auto Save or cashed recovery folder or any kind of feature helping to restore completely (or almost) progresses after beloved XD crash.

Today Adobe Xd crashed for the first time.
As i didn't save the file for about an hour, I lost all my corrections in the file.It would be nice to have an Autosave function or a file reconstruction Function similar to the one of Indesign.

Xd crashed on me before I saved my work and so I lost it, which was the first time I realised Xd doesn't recover the file you were working on when it closes unexpectedly.
While an app is in development (and therefore unlikely to be totally free of crashing bugs) it would seem to me to be a particularly desirable feature.

Please please please sweet baby-papa-space-jesus add auto-save! I think I just lost 4+ hours of work? My own fault, no crashes (*knocks on wood*) just unplugged my computer with my stupid feet, but same result...
Thank you for your kind consideration!

just lost 2h of work including all the prototyping... please oh please add auto save. All other adobe apps have really great auto save and I never lose work because of crashes, so that came a bit unexpected and I must say as a big disappointment...

XD just crashed upon exporting a png.
4 hours of work ruined.Desperately and urgently need an auto save feature like in Indesign, Illustrator or Photoshop especially in a such instable environment as BETA. I can't even send a file to support, because the latest version is rests in pepperoni.

As an Xd user, I would like an option for Xd to reopen all of the files/projects I previously had open, so that if I quit Xd or it crashes or I restart my computer, I can quickly get back to what I was doing before.

Sketch App has a good implementation of Auto Save. It keep a copy of versions while auto saving the file. If have you have messed up your current version, you can always go back to previous versions.
XD files will never be as large as Photoshop files so keeping a version history to certain days make some sense and also allow to have seamless implementation of the feature.

Auto save for local files too.

Autosave a local copy in case of crash, but don't overwrite my file. When I close the program, clear the autosave file.
