Revert to previous file version
I have created a linked Design System file and now one of the designers has overwritten some of my elements. I can go back in the version history and open a version before the mistake was made but I can't revert to that version. Because many files link to the source Design System file, I can't just make a new one and send it out — the orginal linked file needs to be maintained.

Seriously Adobe. What's the use of Document History if you cannot revert to a previous version? Instances of my component have been messed up by a change in the main component and I want this to be undone.

For the record, as with nearly every feature I have requested or voted on in this forum, you can already do this in Figma.
They handle History in a much more accessible and powerful way. -

This is silly, why would you have the feature "Revert to previous file version" available but not for Adobe XD? It's not as simple as copying and pasting since you can't copy and paste components that have many states/animation is not how it works. I did a whole day worth of work, for some reason Adobe XD didn't save it and the next week I just kept working on the outdated file without realizing that I was missing a big chunk of work. Comon Adobe XD. you can do better.

You say you can't revert to a previous version of an XD file in your Versioning FAQ (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/versioning-faq.html):
"How do I revert to earlier versions of a file?
Note:
You cannot revert an XD document to its previous version directly from the Creative Cloud website. To revert to a previous version from Adobe XD, open a version of the document from Document history, and copy and paste the content to your current version."
You've just forced everyone over to using Libraries. I've spent weeks migrating stuff to a library file as you've instructed we do. Now that I have a library file, I'm working in it and updating it.
The problem with all of this: If I make a mistake in my library file or (like what's just happened today) the file decides to disconnect and suddenly and for no apparent reason ungroup and delete master components that I set up weeks ago and haven't changed since that are being used by several other documents (this is a library after all), I can't revert to the version that still had all my master components there and grouped properly.
You say to copy and paste from a version in the Document History. Well, doing this simply makes an instance of the now corrupt master, ungrouped and missing items! None of the original stuff stays when you paste it! Now I'm stuck not only rebuilding the master components but EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE of the original ones! Thanks for all the extra duplicated work, Adobe. Really appreciate it. I had nothing better to do anyway.

Soooooo frustrating! This is should be a must-have for any type of cloud versioning, and especially for a modern product design app.

Whats the point of having version control if you cant revert??

Quite surprised why this is a upvote request when it was available previously. This renders Adobe XD completely unusable for large scale teams trying to manage UI KIT.

It would be great if we could overwrite the current cloud document with a previously saved version, that way design system links would stay intact.
When we have several people using assets from XD documents and we make a mistake in the file which is shared, there is no way to revert to saved version of a cloud document, all the other designers consuming assets are stuck with the latest version of the file unless they want to link to a entirely new document and replace every asset on every art board with the correct version one at a time.

Agreed.
There's a new update that allows the user to select previous links, but it only works if you've manually created multiple links on a document that has a continuous save history. It doesn't work if you:
- Save a local XD document to the Cloud
- Open a history version (focus of this request)In either of these cases, it's often essential to maintain the URL as links are published to various stakeholders.
Possible Workaround for the author of this Request:
Steps -
1. Delete every artboard in current (official) version.
2. Copy everything from the historical version
3. Paste into current version
4. Save -

Same problem. In addition you can't copy and paste all content from restored version to original version without breaking prototype interactions and repeat grid content (when grids use components).

Sometime we want to revert the design to an earlier version. But keep the published links, file name etc. Currently I can only open a revision and then save it as a new version with a new published link. In order to allow us to keep all history of changes, web comments etc. It would be good to have the feature to save a version that is in history as the latest version.

I don’t understand why this was removed from the product. Seems like the ability to roll back to a previous version is a key part of cloud versioning (especially with linked documents)

Same problem here! Coediting is breaking cloud files. :-(

adding a button that allow designers back to their previous Design of the same app .
