I feel like something catastrophic will need to happen for this feature to get implemented. It is ESSENTIAL. Just because this doesn't have 10,000 votes like the flashy "add gifs" feature doesn't mean it shouldn't be prioritized.

When my team talks about how "XD isn't finished," this is the main go-to example. (The other example being how only one person can update links without breaking them). I know it's not a cool box feature, but it really does hold back from being able to recommend XD in general, and definitely holds back from recommending the Cloud storage in specific which I know Adobe seems to be keen to push right now.

If you put up a gofundme to pay an engineer to do this, I bet it would be funded in one day.

We've built many design systems where we can not change the ownership of the files. Which has meant we have had to keep multiple adobe account active, which against Omnicom Group process and adds additional cost to the business. My business need this flexibility to change ownership on our design system when employees leave or change their name.

@Leigh - Sorry to break your heart :-( We too have had similar discussions. We are satisified with XD as a design tool. It would be monumental effort to switch with the sole reason being file transfer/ownership. It would take 6-8 months, and watch the day we make the switch, Adobe would release the File Change enhancements! You are right, Adobe is making swift changes, but not in the right design team collaboration areas. Everyone on XD on a design team needs to keep bombarding this forum (maybe NEW threads each time it happens) and contacting Adobe support to keep this going until they fix.

Michael C, you broke my heart! I thought you were showing the instructions for changing ownership in XD, about which I was greatly relieved because of my own 6 a.m. emergency need to transfer file ownership.

My team just had a "design tool retro" which ended with us scratching our heads as to why in the world we didn't choose Figma over XD. One small voice cited a reason that Adobe is making swift changes to XD, but what changes are being made that helps design teams collaborate? Not allowing co-editors (file Members) to update share links is befuddling and not enabling the only realistic workaround -- changing file ownership by any co-editor -- is damaging to a team's ability to operate as quickly as needed in an Agile environment.

This is my FOURTH time posting on this CRITICAL MUST HAVE. I have wasted SIX hours going thru a designers file who left the team to resave the XD files to myself so we can publish and make changes.
Gone are all the old prototype links for documentation. You clearly do not care about any design team that has multiple designers moving on/off project. What on earth is your product owners/development team doing? Clearly not listening to the needs of your design team customers - which there are TONS judging from this thread.

FIGMA can do it - what cant you???

1. Open the project in the File Browser
2. Click the Share button at the top of the page. This will open the sharing modal for that project.
3. Find the person you would like to transfer ownership to. You can only transfer ownership to someone who is an existing collaborator on that Project.
4. Click the arrow next to the new Owner to adjust their permissions. Select Owner from the options:
5. Click the Transfer ownership button to confirm. You can't undo this action.
6. Figma will transfer ownership of the project, and any files, to the new owner. Figma won't change the project's. location or adjust your permissions on the project.

Critical for us, I will have to go throught this whole situation for the second time in less than six months as we onboard our perm mobile product designer.

Even when it's not about staff leaving it's needed, currently the owner of a file owns the links so you can't update a link without being the owner of that file - which makes zero sense to me as a feature but hey. If I'm co-editing a doc one of the key things I need is to be able to update shared links with devs and stakeholders.

Please add this feature soon.

There are quite a lot of limitations. I would say this is a very urgent request. All organisations that deal with contracters whose contract ends, deal with these issues?

And why can't coeditors access update links? This is a pain when I am of work and someone else is doing emergency updates. They have to call me to update review/dev link.

Adobe, this is a major Pain Point for organizations especially startups.

I'm leaving my current workplace and need to move the ownership from my account to someone else without the links and comments being removed since our developers has hundreds of comments inside those documents. How is that possible?

I have contacted Adobe Support with the same problem. This is not acceptable situation.
We have team that needs to work with same files and share them to 3rd party developers and teams and this is impossible now.
Minimum requirement is that we could change the ownership but also adding several owners or changing how share works in XD is much needed feature.

A very needed feature as our team grows, looking forward to seeing progress on this.

This is my THIRD time posting on this CRITICAL MUST HAVE. Our team had contractors roll of EOY and we had to again scramble and waste TONS OF TIME to save as a new version, new owner, republish links, etc. This is beyond absurd!!! Get you stuff together Adobe - We have HAD it!! BTW - I found a service to convert XD files to Sketch or Figma. Once we get thru a massive project push at front part of year and if you still haven't solved this, we are seriously looking into moving to an actual design team friendly tool! BOOOO ADOBE!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Having multiple owners, but even at a base level of allowing somebody else to "Resolve" comments from a link. Forcing only one person to have the power or not even be able to assign the same power to somebody else is so essential. Like in Google docs, you can add somebody with the power "To edit"
