Sort components in assets panel alphabetically
It would be beneficial for us to sort the Components list by name (Alphabetically). Reason being, when we attach the Cloud doc to a new project file, components seem to be in a random order. If we could re-sort the list alphabetically on each file, it would make organization of large counts of components much easier.
Hi XD Community,
In XD 44, we introduced the ability to sort your entire document assets panel alphabetically or by custom order.
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

Would add to the sorting options this request: that however the components are ordered in the master file gets carried over to any file that links to it.
The color palette seems to retain the order specified in the master XD file, but components re-order themselves when you link to the master file. We have a huge library so this has become very frustrating as my team has to re-order every XD file to put the most used components at the top.

I second this request - and Ole's point that adding items 'un-sorts' a carefully hand-sorted list. Adobe, if you're going to recommend customers invest a lot of time and effort in doing something as menial and easy for an application to do as sort a potentially huge list by hand - then please don't let that app un-sort it! It's a pain for us and terrible for your company's reputation. If I were you, I wouldn't wait for us to make it important to you by voting - I'd think for myself, realise that this is a high-value (to user and your brand), low-effort fix and just do it. Please. For the love of God - or at least your own company.

@Randy Edmunds : Just spent 20-30 minutes manually dragging items to reorder alphabetically. After adding a few extra components, all my components became unsorted again. So unfortunately your fix doesn't seem to work.

Our entire design language is in one XD document. Imagine the hand-sorting required!

Being able to create folders would be a massive help too. No point in being able to move components into groupings if it reorders all the time. This is very frustrating with a huge list of components. I know this bug has been logged but would be good to know what the progress of this is and if we can also get folders in the near future.

There is also a bug for the components assets. Unfortunately your handsorted components become unsorted by adding a new asset. This just took me half an hour reorganising my file.

Yes please! There is no point having a naming convention to organize assets if they are not sorted alphabetically!

Or Maybe various other listing or filter options

Hi Randy,
I understand that you can drag items manually already. This would be beneficial if the alphabetical sort held between the Asset Library document and any documents that the Asset Library becomes associated to. Unfortunately, the sort comes in randomly. This is also a tedious task when you are managing a large library with hundreds of components. I've tried keeping them organized with a decent naming convention, and the Asset Search field helps a good bit. But if the sort doesn't hold between projects, I shouldn't have to sort them multiple times between documents.

For now, you can manually drag items to re-order in list mode.
Hope this helps,

Please add folders too to sort and categorize. Like Sketch is a good idea by setting "/" to generate a category.

I totally agree.
This would make life much easier. -

Yes yes, also missing this. Imagine we have one cloud document for product guidelines and another document for specification assets (like special markers, arrows etc.). Now I start designing a new design document in which I want to use components from both previous documents and when I do include them, the order of all components gets messy and hard to navigate.
