Download assets as JPGs from Design Specs
Please create the option to download assets as JPGs from design specs. As of right now, there are only options to download as PNG or PDF. JPG seems pretty odd to exclude. Additionally, it would be great if you could have the ability to control your batch export preferences.
This is now available in the latest version of XD! Make sure you republish before accessing the design spec to access this feature.

All photos should be JPG, not PNG. Major oversite on Adobe's part on how we actually develop for the web.

This indeed seems like a serious oversight. If I've added an SVG icon for example, developer view also allows for same SVG format to be downloaded.
But ALL photos which were added as JPG in the design, only allows for PNG download.
This means that a photo that in JPG format could be 50-70kb, suddenly becomes 500kb in PNG-format and either my developers need to do the extra step of converting all images, or I have to replace all images after the site has been built. -

Adobe Share with the following settings: Development View, export for Web Downloadable assets options for photos (pixel files) only offers png or pdf file extension, it is missing the jpg option.

Do we have any Adobe reps that can confirm whether this is being looked at? I do find it strange we can export as JPG, but developers can't download an image as a JPG, which we generally use most often.

Come on Adobe, this is a REALLY basic request for handing off graphics to developers - we have PDF, which is never used, but not jpg? COME ON ADOBE?

What's the point of this??? I have to do the work myself and send all the assets exported to the developer!

Not being able to choose .jpg as a download option (or even better giving designers options to set for image output) basically makes the developer handoff mode useless. If my devs have to go to another place to get files, or have to open up XD to get what they need, why use developer hand off at all?
EDIT: figma has this functionality

has this been solved?

In Web Development Saving Image as Web Optimized JPEG is the perfect format for this.. PNG could work but it is only used for transparency...

Just found this string as I was struggling to figure out WHY XD would disregard my import of an image background as a jpg, which, of course, is the more efficient way to load a background photograph. I guess I will have to send that one asset separately which is a bummer. PLEASE fix!!!

Allow developers to download JPGs, select quality percentage and x2 settings please.

The XD team definitely needs to consult with web designers more. Literally in the entire history of the internet a developer has never once requested a web-ready image in PDF format from a designer. So why is there an option to download an image as a PDF but not as a JPG? JPGs are necessary to keep page load times to a reasonable level.

The development team usualluy request the files in many formats (jpg, png, svg), and specific file sizes to optimize the loading times of the websites we work on.
It would be really great to hand the files without the need of a complementary email with the images that are not supported by design specs :) -

different file types for images are necessary, especially when dealing with mixed illustrative and photographic content. jpg for photgraphic, png for illustrative. really great for optimizing web load

I agree with the suggestion

It would be great to have a little more control over the view of specs, the developers of my team always request images in JPG with a specific file weight to optimize the loading times of the websites we produce.

Agreed - our designers have the option to download as jpg when logged in to XD but when developers go to specs there is no option - surely if it should be available in both methods?

please please please!! give us the option to download the images in jpeg format. Especially the files that are imported from Photoshop to XD and we share the link to the developers through XD. It's been almost a year people keep asking for this simple option. This is super important and because we don't have this option we are forced to waste time or use other programs.

Being able to share assets for download with the developer is what makes XD so amazing, and it is somewhat ridiculous this feature doesn't include the option for JPGs through the weblink.

My images were imported to XD als JPGs. So it's crazy that there is for the developer just a download as PNG …
