Organize assets panel objects (symbols/components/colors/character styles) into folders
Would love to organize symbols into folder for easy accessibility. I spend too much time looking through symbols into one library.
Dear XD Community -
I’m happy to share that as part of XD 44, we have delivered the long awaited assets organization feature 🎉. So now you can flexibly groups your assets to help you organize, navigate and find your assets much faster.
This feature will allow you to:
1. Create unlimited groups and sub-groups for all your assets
2. Easily move assets between groups by drag-n-drop or using the move dialog
3. Custom Reorder your groups
4. Publish linked libraries with groups
5. Sort your document assets panel by name
To learn more about this feature check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/work-with-assets-and-libraries-xd.html
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

This would be a HUGE improvement to finding elements in the Asset panel.

Another request for this essential feature!

This is another critical feature missing from XD. The scrolling panel and no grouping is fine if you're working on small / simple projects, but once things get complex, it's an absolute nightmare to have to scroll through hundreds upon hundreds of assets to find the one you want. And on top of that, it doesn't seem like there's an easy way to see which linked assets are linked to which repository. Sometimes I want to use specifically assets from one repo, and having them organized in one folder would be so, so helpful.

managing design system or library will be impossible until this feature is done

It would be helpful to create folders in order to manage components better.
We need more organization options than just Colors / Character Styles / Components.
For design systems this is a must have!
Example:
Components (+ new folder)
+ Cards
+ Buttons
+ etc -

At the moment you have to scroll down the whole component list to find your prefered component.
It would be nice to structure e.g. Buttons in a Section or Folder (like Sketch or Figma do)

Also why do I have to go to different pagination to see the contents of artboards? The contents of the artboard should appear under the artboard as a sub-folder

Let us stop wasting hours on scrolling the assets list! That panel is a nightmare.

Trying to decide if it is worth switching over from Sketch and no way to organize components/assets may be the one showstopper!

Can you classify components, such as buttons into a category, ICONS into a category, etc., which is difficult to find at present

wee need this asap

This is so needed.
Make tree-like structures for colors, character style and components assets.
I love XD, make this happen for it to be even better.

Please add a feature for components to have a hierarchy, a parent-child relationship, that can be created using a drag & drop to group items (nested sorting), or by having a specific symbols as delimiter in the component name, such as / (ie. a path).
This would be very useful when designing components with different states, such as a button can have a default, hover, focus and disabled states. You would then create a single Button (default), and under it different states such as Primary and Secondary, then Hover, Focus, Disabled and you could explore these in a dropdown menu on the Assets bar. You can then use a specific component state to include in your artboard.
Example:
- Button
-- Button/Primary
--- Button/Primary/Focus
--- Button/Primary/Disabled
-- Button/Secondary
--- Button/Secondary/Focus
--- Button/Secondary/Disabled
...

Ability to attribute a color to an asset – in the assets panel – to help us organise them.

I would like to organize my assets into folders so I can easily hide elements from view in that panel that I don't need.

The way Sketch does this is great – Makes it very easy to keep symbols organized. Definitely an area where XD needs to catch up.

Why isn't this a thing yet!?! Seriously, I have a master doc for a complex design system for mobile, tablet and web with assets, colours, etc. I need to group so that I can hide and show the ones I need. Right now I'm scrolling for hours on a long list.
