Organize assets panel objects (symbols/components/colors/character styles) into folders
Would love to organize symbols into folder for easy accessibility. I spend too much time looking through symbols into one library.
Dear XD Community -
I’m happy to share that as part of XD 44, we have delivered the long awaited assets organization feature 🎉. So now you can flexibly groups your assets to help you organize, navigate and find your assets much faster.
This feature will allow you to:
1. Create unlimited groups and sub-groups for all your assets
2. Easily move assets between groups by drag-n-drop or using the move dialog
3. Custom Reorder your groups
4. Publish linked libraries with groups
5. Sort your document assets panel by name
To learn more about this feature check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/work-with-assets-and-libraries-xd.html
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

Bonjour,
I hope all is well with the Adobe team and especially the XD team. So I'm getting to the heart of the matter but can you improve the libraries within XD? We can't take it anymore to make defile advitam eternam all our components.
It's a mess, it's probably a bias on your part but I'm sorry, when we start to create continuity in our screens with a lot of components, scrolling or searching them becomes a waste of time.
Sketch has revolutionised the grouping of components in some ways and figma is taking this functionality to another level by linking documentation to the update note when you have a component library.
We have the CC library which is an advantage in the adobe ecosystem but honestly in its current state it doesn't serve much purpose in XD.
What are your plans for this feature?
Have a nice weekend!

So the latest release has been total fluff. This request is so important and the XD team are focusing their attention on angular gradients?!
Focus up!

This is very much holding up our design system. We are still using a old xd library Globally because it has folders, but I can't update it unless I convert the components to graphics.

This would be very valuable as we are more and more working with components

Create groups for components to help organize components when you have a large amount within your component group for your design system. Libraries allows for this but if you create a library of XD components then you are stuck with only colors, components, character assets. Ideally, it would be great to be able to make groups within a component i.e.. cards, navigation, hero, etc...

Any word on this feature? It'd be super-duper-extremely helpful working with how big our atomic design systems have gotten for our products. I've taken to trying to sort things using the names of each item (e.g. component/pagename/componentname, element/elementname) but apps like Figma have it built in so that it creates groupings in your system automatically when adding / into the name... bare minimum requirements would be something like this.

yeeep!! "stay tuned" from 2020! Hope it will get out from the "backlog" before Sketch will get their Windows version :-)
By the way... please, tell your "backloggers" to give a boost to the good ol' "dark mode" request ;-)

How come I can organise a standard library (where I cannot add components, but only graphics, colours and styles) but not the shared one?

Is this feature will ever get out of the backlog? It's pretty essential for a tool like adobe XD @Elaine

A must have really, especially if you wanna be competitive with design systems in XD!

Any word on when this is coming? It’s a pain to sort manually... if not folders at least alphabetically for each section in the assets panel.

Please do this!!!

When working on a large design system in XD the components panel becomes unmanageable and a simple folder structure would solve this issue. Can you provide an update for this feature, please?

Is here any ETA for us? We are forced to switch to figma with the hole company, if this small update is not incoming soon.

Also curious on an ETA? I work on a team that has a large Design System to manage. XD makes it really hard to work with and we have a lot of issues with people using one off files because it's just easier to manage smaller asset amounts using XD. We also have people who prefer Sketch because of this very problem (and are starting the move to Figma)...Would be great to have a way to organize XD's Components list (and the others as well) into nameable subcategories to actually make it usable (and easier to onboard new people) instead of having a giant scrolling pain point. It would be a huge step to get the entire team on the same tool. Pretty please :D?

Is there an ETA on this much-needed request?

Adobe, please push this important feature! Should be a classic low hanging fruit, I guess.
The missing ability to add folders to the assets forces us to use figma or return back to sketch. You talk about supporting design systems but In real world projects you need a lot of assets for responsive solutions.
This and missing multiple pages like in figma/sketch are killers for all of our big client projects.

When designing a Design System (a UI Kit) we often create a web sites that share the design system with users. There is often a direct connection between the content of this site and libraries built in Xd. One thing that we frequently do with these sites is group content into buckets (i.e. Compontents/Buttons/Primary). I would be nice to mimic this in the assets pane. I would like to be able to group things like fonts and compontents. When we have a lot of colors, styles and components the performance and ux suffer when I have to scroll through huge lists.
Just a thought, Please share if I am missing this feature.
p.s. For those sketch users... I am looking for the same funtionality as naming symbols with slashes (i.e. "Buttons/Primary/Small" and "Buttons/Primary/Large") which resutls in:
buttons
--primary
----small
----large
--secondary
---- and so on...

Can you assess when this functionality will be developed? (January 21, Q1 21?) My team need this really much and we don't want to switch to Figma :/

Ability to make components into complex design patterns than making them into another component.
Benefits
- Better organization in Document Assets
- Faster reuse
- Aligns with Design System documentation
- Hopefully Better performance
