I would love to have this feature. It would be super helpful for internal and external collaboration with UX designers, developers, PMs.

This would be very welcome. Simply attaching notes to an artboard would be super helpful at this point. When presenting to clients I often find myself using XD iteself and just dropping text notes outside the artboard for later.

Would it be possible to have sticky notes like they do in Balsamiq? Just drag them on and put your notes in.

I love the way you proposed it! This is a big pain point and that combined with the lack of integration between the shared prototype and the prototype makes this the obvious next step!

Amazing idea! It can be very useful both for keeping specs for devs and also making presentations to clients.

As a developer it would be great to have designer defined descriptions for elements on the wireframes/prototypes. Not comments per say but rather interaction annotations defined by the designer describing how this element is meant to function when a action such a top or how a element transitions from one state to another.

This would exist in the shared design specs/protoype.

Azure's element notes & web publish tool is a good example of this and my team uses this at work all the time for developer handoffs.

It provides both a visual understanding as well as a descriptive understanding of how the UI should function when coding it up.

It would also be nice to comment on said notes to ask questions or suggest feedback.

Adobe XD Development Team, please support this inline documentation feature for mockups DURING DESIGN MODE, and can also be seen DURING SPECS MODE.

Our current prototyping tool is Microsoft PowerPoint.
We use "Speech Bubble: Rectangle" to point to UI elements and explain details about it.
Other may be using "Callout: Line" for the same purpose.

Now I understand that in REVIEW MODE for SHARED PROTOTYPES, you have a COMMENT SYSTEM. Microsoft PowerPoint has that, too, and the purpose is for reviewers to add comments, more like a TODO LIST FOR UX DESIGNERS.

We need a similar "Comment System" but for purposes of DOCUMENTING UI Elements.

Like Notes, but I would like to output the entire layout like this with lines connecting boards and notes on connecting lines in a single PDF for engineering. While we're waiting for Xd to implement a documentation feature, I've started using this workaround. It lets you add a notes panel next to each artboard that can be easily moved with the artboard, scaled to accommodate longer scrolling pages, and can be easily shown or hidden when running in preview mode and in your exported PDFs.

Some sort of ability to annotate and add documentation to a set of mockups would be wonderful. Up until now, I've been using Word or Google Docs for documentation.

The idea is great though - I use hidden text layers in PS for notes at the moment.

I think the implementation you are suggestion @Thomas Hallgren is too complex, and a far simpler solution would be to just have an icon for notes at the top that shows you a number whenever you hover over an artboard that has notes. Clicking on it will then show you a list of all the notes in that artboard with small icons in the actual artboard that light up as you hover over a particular note.

Added feature request: Within this Notes mode feature, I would like to have the ability to create notes that function much like "Symbols".

When creating an artboard, I want to add comments indicating their use and provide additional information. I don't want to add these to the artboard themselves, as this hides the actual content. So, I write comments next to the artboard. Sometimes I want to have arrows to associate comments with artboard content, but as soon as anything touches an artboard it becomes part of that artboard (and is therefore clipped outside the artboard area).
A good solution might be to be able to allow for artboard content that is not clipped by the artboard... Or to allow for pasteboard content to reach over an artboard without automatically being assigned to it. #pasteboard #comments #notes
