Yes, please. I often need to replace a single instance of a symbol, as well.

Currently, when you drag a symbol from the assets panel onto another symbol it will replace ALL instances of that symbol from anywhere on the canvas. Please make it so I can replace only ONE instance of that symbol with a new symbol (e.g. pressing ALT while dragging or something)

Love the latest update to swap symbols from the assets panel and i think you did the right choice to replace all symbols in all artboards. But from seeing comments on Twitter and trying it out myself I see the niceness in having the option to only replace one instance. This is useful for replacing a state of a button etc. (But perhaps you have a smart solution for button states coming soon) :)

Anyway it would be a nice option to just hold Option/alt while replace to just affect one instance instead of all.

This is a feature already in Sketch, and should have already bene a part of the first release of XD, like a whole host of other items that were completely neglected.

I constantly find myself right-clicking on symbols to try to swap them. This would be a super handy feature!

Yes. If there is already an object on the sign area and I don't chose the object from the symbols, it would be great, to click with the right mouseside to apply the object an defined symbol. The same, if I have some duplicates some object before I saved it as a symbol, so I can easily apply an defined symbol to the object. You know what I mean?

The "Apply Symbol" feature also allows you to assign an already saved symbol at later times.

A very nice feature for symbols would be the ability to "Audition" / Replace one symbol for another easy and quickly, allowing for the option to quickly view an alternative solution to a design problem across an entire project.

I really miss this ability/tool from Illustrator.

When i select an element, lets say a box, and i need to swap it with a symbol, i should have a short cut + a menu option under my right click to swap with a symbol.

This functionality was also available in Flash, it's a very useful tool

Is there any possibility to switch the symbols with other symbols of the library? Like in Flash or Illustrator? This will be nice!
