Disable hotspot hinting & show "link" mouse cursor in places that don't link to anything
In usability studies we need a way to drop fake hotspots that do not have to be linked, the reason that we need this is so that the user can click around more and hover over things to help the prototype not lead the user into clicking the item that we've enabled.
If we could just drawing a hotspot and linking it on every single page of a flow is not idea and just being able to draw a hotspot and link it to nothing while activating the mouse hand to still go to a pointer will help our studies as participants will be able to click on things without the hotspot hints lighting up immediately showing the user where the functionality is.
Hi Everyone,
We added a way for you to turn hotspots off on the web prototypes. You can now add “?hints=off” to your URL and no hotspots will show.
In the future, we’ll add this option to the Share Online dialog, but, for now, you can just add the additional parameter to your URL.
This request also includes some users who want us to turn off hand cursor changes. We did not do this when hotspots are off because we are unsure if this is really what people want. If your use case includes one where you want cursor changes off, please vote on this issue and make a comment:
Let us understand your use case a bit better. Thanks!

This workaround is a bit of a joke. It doesn't work on mobile and doesn't address the cursor changing to a pointer on desktop. In fact, the entire prototype menu is missing from the windows version of XD. I can't user test with prototypes when the XD features aren't adequate, and I won't be switching to Mac just to get required features. I feel like Adobe has nothing but contempt for windows users since these issues take 4+ years to get resolved on our platforms, and it's a lot easier for my company to switch software than hardware.

How to turn on the hints Joan lafferty? its super annoying how the previous features all get messed up as you add more and more features in terms of user experience

Need hand off as well as hotspots. We don't want to give the users we are testing any clues as to what to click.

The last girl said that you are "working on a UI for this". Are you joking? Add a button under the publish that says Turn on/ off hotspot hinting. Jesus... add the functionality first, skin it later.
How can any business use this tool to build and test products when you guys keep missing, literally critical, functionality in order to get valid test results back?

So how do i do that on a device?

How the &$^$% do you not let me turn this off? I am so &&$^^% pissed off at your software because every #%^$^&$%( time i try to use it there is always some critical piece just missing!
I do this &%^# for a living and i dont have time to **&@ around using a piece of @#$% tool that cant do the job. I wasted a half a day with this @@@.
WTF

Please provide the ability for the designer to TURN OFF hot spot hinting in prototype mode. It completely ruins a user test by telling the user where to click. XD is absolutely useless for any production/ testing until i can turn this off when i need to.

Xd could be such a powerful program for quick usability prototype testing ... but these hotspot hints ruin it. Please consider giving users the option to switch them off, in shared previews!
Thanks! -

Hotspot Hints, like in the XD Mobile App Settings Window, can be switched on and off in all preview modes of XD ( Enable or Disable on Prototype Play Mode, Shareable Link Window, Export Window)
I am a developer for Hidden Object Games and the Hotspot links are hilariously inconvenient for clients to preview online because it gives away where the objects are hidden XD
Thanks for your time!

Any movement on this one? Is it on the roadmap?
Thank you!

We just came to this conclusion as well and I had to persuade my group to not dump XD because of this. Just provide the option to turn it off :)

Is there any way of disabling hotspot hinting from inside the application not just XD mobile app?

I would love to have way to turn off hotspot hints so that I can watch where users click without telling them where to click next in prototypes.

For user-testing purposes it would be nice to be able to turn off the blue boxes that appear if you click a non-clickable area. It gives the user insight into how the system works and makes testing far less valuable.
