This is the ONLY reason why I do not use XD! Has/is this going to be solved?

The option to change background colour of the work space in Design mode as I find it is effecting the designers eyes due to being too bright when only white. XD should have the option to change just like other Adobe apps...

I'm not sure if there is a workaround for this or not but even if I make the artboard large enough to cover the right and left edges of a large desktop screen, I still have an issue with a bit of the background showing through at the top of the screen. Only a few pixels in height but since prototypes are created to closely simulate accurate website experiences, this can be an issue.

And see also https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12940362-dark-overall-ui if you'd like to be able to make both the pasteboard *and* the side panels darker.

See also https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13464237-web-share-change-background-color for custom background color once you share your prototype online. (Though note: the background color there is really only visible when viewing the prototype on a desktop computer; in a mobile browser the prototype artboards are basically full screen)

I would like to be able to change the work space of adobe XD to a darker color like in photoshop because then when I'm designing an app that has lighter colors I would have more contrast instead of art boards bleeding together.

As a workaround, you can place your content on one or more artboards (you can make them very large if you want). You have full control over the background color of artboards.

After working with XD this entire week on an active project, I can wholeheartedly agree that the background color needs to have the ability to change color. As many UX designers design in greyscale before adding full color, many objects moved off the artboard that are light grey quickly appear transparent and your digging around for lost assets. in addition, for users who get eye-strain from lights UI's, having the ability to use change the background to a dark color is nice - is in lieu of a dark UI color theme (coming soon I hope as well).
