Export to After Effects to add animation
The best animation tool... gotta communicate with AE like PS
Hi everyone,
I’m happy to announce that with version 13 you can export your designs from XD to After Effects. Layers, artboards, symbols, groups and artwork are transferred as editable and with great visual fidelity.
Here’s how it works:
1. In XD, select the layers or artboards you want to animate in After Effects.
2. Go to: File> Export > After Effects. If After Effects is not installed on your machine, this option is greyed out. You can also use the ⌥⌘F (Mac), or Ctrl+Alt+F (Windows) keyboard shortcuts.
3. The selected layers or artboards are added as native shapes, texts, assets, and nested compositions in your AE project.
Here’s the list with what’s supported and not supported at this time: https://helpx.adobe.com/ro/xd/kb/open-after-effects-files-in-xd.html
Thanks for voting this feature and let us know how it works!
Best,
Dan Tuhoarca

There's a workflow with Sketch and AE: Sketch2AE and Inspector Spacetime
This should be in Xd the same or better! -

As a motion designer that's now getting into UX, I'm itching to add some After Effects transitions to XD prototypes, that would be awesome!!

When/if this feature is added, please maintain grouping structure and names of assets.

Absolutely need this feature!

This feature is desperately needed. Either a smooth export to AE or animation capabilities inside XD. Sometimes you miss the old Flash days!

Being able to export XD files to After Effects would be a very well needed option I believe. Currently once finishing prototyping in XD, there is no way to keep the high resolution to After Effects in my workflow. I would like to have the ability to animate elements from my XD to AE in order to show to stakeholders, clients and professors.
Having this ability would be good to have in terms of communicating a design.

I surprised that this feature hasn't been started yet. UI Animation has become one of the most important parts of your prototyping and presentation lately. XD would go obsolete pretty quick if there isn't a motion/animation export support.

This feature alone would convert me from Sketch to XD.

This deserves way more votes.
After Effects and Xd should work together and compatibility with XD files should work exactly like bringing a PS/AI file into After Effects.
All these apps live inside the adobe family. Please make this happen Adobe. Make it easy for designers to stay inside the adobe family from start to finish.

I've been animating all UI in AE for years. Integration with XD would be very welcomed.

Animations should be done inside XD. After Effects is absolute overkill for simple web animations and transitions.

After Effects should just support .svg already.

It's a little unclear on what XDs recommended approach to working with Motion designers who work in After Effects. UX teams who work in illustrator currently deliver AI files to these designers who animate the design based on the layers. Once a design is in 100% XD it's unclear what adobe thinks is the best way to work with designers who want to animate our concepts even further. Export for PDF is good but maybe there needs to be a better EXPORT for After Effects that bundles layers a bit better for these people.

This would be game changer until you don't have advanced motion designer in XD. Design the visuals with XD - export to AE- design the motion - import back your video to XD as a video layer. BOOOM!

We need the option "export as AFTER EFFECT Project", for advanced movie editing (very important, especially for creating videos for the App Store).

It would be great if XD files are deployable to After Effects! Much like importing layered PSD/AI files to After Effects.
This is so that designers can do animation prototyping to communicate further how the interface behaves visually with user interaction.

Are there plans to be able to create custom interaction animations? I would love to have an After Effects animation graph editor in XD. It would be great to be save animation curves as presets and be able to share them with a design team.
If you could make this happen. We can engage all the motion designers across teams to instantly share their motion designs with the UX team. This would be game changing!
