    My internet provider throttles my downloads. Having a local installer on an external hard drive would be part of my backup strategy.

    I second the request for offline installer/functionality.

    Requiring users to be tethered to the internet converts our computers to dumb terminals, and prevents us from working either offline or (for those of us who are freelancers) at customer sites with security policy and procedures or concerns.
