You should already be able to copy and paste vectors from both Illustrator and Photoshop. In Photoshop, you’ll need to copy as vector in order to paste into XD. For more about both, please read: https://helpx.adobe.com/experience-design/help/working-with-external-assets.html
I believe we also support transparent bitmap layers from Photoshop as well on Mac.

It seems like this is being asked for in several different threads, so I hope this is the right place to add my $.02.
As of March 2022, you still can't copy/paste transparency from Photoshop to XD. You get a white background. If you want to copy in a piece of a PSD (I can't be the only one who needs this all the time) then you have to copy the piece to its own file, remove the background, save as a transparent PNG and then drag that file in to XD. It's an enormous pain. It's also a mystery as to why Adobe is playing catchup to Sketch, which has always been able to do this. At this point it is the single thing keeping me from using XD for the majority of my projects.
