Auto Save (in case of system crash)
Auto save take away the worry of saving and losing data.
Hi everyone,
With XD versions 8 and 9 we’ve gradually released Auto-Recovery. This is a feature that restores files automatically in the event of an application or system crash. Auto-Recovery is enabled by default and available for both Windows 10 and Mac users.
How it works:
- While editing an XD file, Auto-Recovery runs in the background and stores the edits in a backup file at every 5 seconds. Every time you save the file, the backup is cleaned up from your disk, so there’s no impact on storage.
- In the event of an application or system crash, the backup file is used to restore the last unsaved edits to the original files.
- At next XD launch, the recovered file is available as a recent file in the Start screen or the “File” menu option.
- Recovered files can be identified by the “*” character added at the end of the document title.
- This feature has no impact on XD’s or your device’s speed and performance.
Auto-Recovery is not meant to substitute the workflow of manually saving the file. Continue to save your XD files frequently using the CMD / CTRL –> Save option.
Thank you for your patience and feedback! Update XD to the latest version and let us know if you experience any issues.
Best,
Dan

PLEASE!!! I need my XD file back! I've been working on it for days and it kept crashing so I had to uninstall and install it. Adobe XD has been acting weird recently. I should have noticed the pattern earlier.
I want my file back!!

I went into the save location - it has a zillion saves of random files I opened to glance at months ago - but it does not my final work before the crash. It appears to save a file as soon as I open it, but not any changes I make to it. Defeats the purpose.

Adobe - I just lost a full days worth of work because XD did not auto save or back up at all - I'm working off the cloud which is supposed to auto-save every 5 seconds so what happened!?

I just lost an entire day's work. I save all the time. When I was finally finished for the day I saved and closed. Then I noticed that the date of the file had not even updated since the previous day, and when I re-opened the project - all my work was gone. There was no "Auto-Save" option as described here.

I have been working on a project for a while now, and I lost my hours of work, I really do not find any feature that you have mentioned. To my shock, the cloud folder is empty too. I really do not like the feature where if you update an XD, the previous work would be lost..!! Please find workaround for this.

Then why couldn't I recover my fillable form that got closed while I was working on it? I do not believe that you actually have this feature in your software.

Unfortunately the autosave feature didn't work for me. XD Crashed and when it was opened back up, I couldn't find any recovered file (*) in the recent menu. Looks like others are having this issue so you might want to look into this.

The electricity turned off and then turned on, but when I downloaded the document, I saw a 47 error. Lost many hours of work. Adobe!!!! Why?? Why we can not add simple function: "Auto save every 5 min"?
