Full featured top menu for Windows 10
Get rid of the hamburger menu, and give windows users a full on top menu like in Photoshop or Illustrator. Hiding options behind an icon is a major pain. As a user of both Mac and Windows, I'd love for the program to be the same across both operating systems.
You can now access a fully featured top menu for Windows 10 in today’s release of XD! If you don’t see the update immediately, go to the Creative Cloud Desktop app, select the Update tab, the …, and “Check for updates.”

Really, no menu bar is better UX in Windows?
Paradoxically the tool to design UX have the worst UX.
Please give us nav menú!!. -

Not having any top navigation makes no sense. If this is a new Windows standard I've not seen this craziness anywhere else. Why not only make the burger appear if the users desktop width is less than 1024px (as good responsive websites do). There is so much wasted empty space in the UI on a 4K screen.
I ended up reverting to the far better Mac version.

I read your "feature declined" post below and this is terrible. I cannot find the File, Edit, View... options with their lists of features! PLEASE put the menu bar back.

I didn't have to scroll far to see lots of comments that make extremely valid points in why consistency and efficiency are key for XD along with other Adobe products. What should make you opt out of committing to Microsoft' s UWP guidelines is that UWP are simply guidelines and not mandates or regulations. With that stance, it'd be more expected to see the rest of Adobe's products converted to UWP over the last 3 years, but here we are XD... patiently waiting for the 'We listened to our communities...' speech about putting a practical, convenient, accessible, USEFUL menu bar back into XD.
Hey I get it, XD is still in its infancy, if you don't have a lot of menu items, we aren't going to laugh at it, we just want a bit of approachable consistency. You'll add menu options over time, we know you will.... just give us a menu bar. We know it's commented out in code....

Just adding my $0.02 on this topic. For a product that claims to be all about user experience, I find it utterly gobsmacking that Adobe should be completely ignoring having trashed the user experience for its entire Windows-based target demographic by opting not to have a top menu bar.
I agree with all of the comments made here (I haven't seen a single comment in support of the UWP decision, so "all" seems to be correct here). Please just give us a proper menu bar, and please stop saying that the commands are all on the hamburger menu. They aren't.
Anyway, Seriously? Who's going to do UX design on an iPhone?

I've just opened Adobe XD on Windows and the lack of a menu bar makes the software inconsistent with the rest of the suite and enough of a drawback to make me find another software to do the job. This is a poor decision by Adobe.

Elaine,
Most people using Xd on a PC won't have touch screens. Also, discarding the menu bar breaks consistency with the rest of the Adobe suite, and breaks cross-platform consistency. The UWP guidelines are not the end-all, be-all of UX, which, if software companies actually *listened* to UX experts, you would know.Adobe needs to add the menu bar (back?) to the application, and to stop making changes across the suite that destroy your customers' productivity. Using any Adobe application on my PC workstation needs to look and behave the same as on my Mac, just like Illustrator, Photoshop, et al, do.

Elaine,
If 99% of the people who want to use your software are asking for the Menu bar to come back, the reasoning of "following UWP design guidelines" is not a reason to not add at least a way to turn the menu on and off. Maybe you can designed it to be off at first but give everyone else a way to turn it on. Those of us who are trying to design apps using XD can work at a better pace than to have to decipher how to go about doing what is super fast using your other apps that do use the Menu bar. Most of your developers don't use a tablet to create your apps. Maybe you guys can create a developer version that would include the menu bar. -

we decided to commit completely to the UWP design paradigm, which is touch-friendly and removes the menu bar, replacing it with the hamburger menu in the upper left hand corner.
The hamburger menu does not give you all the features, especially in prototype mode. If you don't know the short cuts you can't do have of the techniques that XD allows you to do.

I don't get it, nobody would use XD inside an android (for that hamburger). What is the reason behind the top menu bar removal? Is it some sort of budget or payment issues? We could have understood your alibi about UWP if you included all the functionalities inside the hamburger too. Why don't you just create apps like that for yourself alone? All PC users have been having a really horrible user experience using your XD app. Would that make you a great product manager? I doubt it.

The fact that there is no menu bar for customers that use this product on PC is ridiculous. There are menu bars on the other PC Adobe products...so why not this one. I had high hopes for using this product, but I've never seen a program this poorly designed.

Everyone wants this top menu.... Its so ironic that a tool for UX designers has such anti-patterns because of Microsoft!
As a large company yourself you should be fully aware that many of these UX/UI decisions by large corporations have very little to do with UX and are really about branding & psychology (getting users used to their way of doing things so that they don't/can't leave, and use a competitors tool)..
This is Adobe XD not Microsoft XD.....
Grow a pair, be Adobe and bring back the top menu like the rest of your products... you are ruining what otherwise is an excellent tool...

Adobe programs should be consistent across the board.
Photoshop has a top menu, Illustrator has top menu, etc etc etc.
Is there anything else to say here, really?? : / -

Just had to downgrade to the PC version (because of lockdown) and had to Google why the UI was broken, then discovered it is a 'feature'. Surely desktop users take priority over the very small amount of designers using touch interfaces for this kind of work.

I am new to XD and find it extremely complicated to work without a top bar. Why is there one on Mac and not on Windows? This makes no sense!
I see this topic has been open for years, any chance of a reply from Adobe? -
Diego commented
This topic it's been open for 3 years now and we still don't have a solution. I've read other comments from Adobe encouraging users to up-vote this article and share their opinion. If you look at every single comment, users aren't happy with the current menu and they gave several good reasons and ideas to solve this problem. How much longer do we need to wait for this to be seriously reviewed again?
Elaine (or someone else from Adobe), would you mind giving us an update?
Thanks
