Select behind/select by path only
Would like the ability to be able to select a object/path behind another with a cmd+double click (?) as per indesign, or be able to 'select by path only' like illustrator
Direct select (cmd+click Mac, Ctrl+click Win) now cycles through the layers that are visually underneath, so you can select behind an object — even a locked object.

XD is TRASH that I am forced to use. Absolute junk.
Problems:
Can't click through locked layers. WTAF
Masking is counter intuitive and weird.
NO LINE HEIGHTS!?!?
Only a single shadow on a box, (not a huge deal, but common)
I know this is tool is meant for quick mock-ups and not for large teams who use extensive libraries, but at least add some sort of component organization/grouping/sorting besides one header that says components.
Selecting is inconsistent and behaves oddly in the layers panel (i selected a component in the layers panel and when i hit the arrow keys i expected to move the component, not select other components)
I have many, many more.
I am mad that i have to use this and it gives me a headache. -

Sorry, but selecting a layer behind a locked layer doesn't work...

This is really stupid. Why even have a lock button then? Why change natural flow from all other adobe family? This makes no sense...

Locked layers still can be select. The objects behind locked layers can only be select by dragging the mouse on it, but we can not move the behind object with mouse. Only by arrow keys

The only way to work is CTRL+X, work, CTRL+V.
It is extremely frustrating! -

Even locked objects are selectable, so it is impossible to grab an oject behind another. The Ctrl+Clic from indesign is quite useful

I don't understand why it is not already added?

the lack of this feature is driving me nuts. using the apple-provided UI kits for iPhone is a pain because of this

I need this, coming from Illustrator, it's very frustrating not to be able to select elements behind a locked layer. CMD+2, please!

Sketch has this ability, so it'd be nice to see XD stay competitive with this feature.

Thank you.
However, selecting a layer is not intuitive, it is troublesome, and it needs to be selectable visually and quickly.
It is impossible to quickly select the object of interest from among many layers.
In XD, it is impossible to feel what is possible with general design tools, so I feel stress. -

You can try using the layers panel and select the desired layer from there

Even with any design tool, it is necessary to make it impossible to select it when locked.
I have many such situations, but I will give up if there is no demand -

Like other say, Command + click to select layers beneath, If the above layer is locked you should just be able to click the layer beneath anyway. This would definitely help speed the process up.

The ability to select objects below other objects would be extremely beneficial. For example I've created a new / updated icon in my design and I want to place it in the exact same spot as the old. I'd drag the new one over the old -> hold a modifier key (ALT for example) -> and then click to select objects behind. You could loop from front to back. This saves time in guessing / figuring out where that exact spot is.

I vote absolutely yes! Please allow the ability to select an object or path behind a locked layer. Command + click as in InDesign would be a helpful method.

This was a useful feature in Fireworks as well.
