Import animated GIFs and display in preview

The ability to add animated GIF's to projects would make a big different to communicating certain aspects of designs with clients and developers. Please add this in! :)

This needs to be able to be displayed in preview as an animation (not just as a static frame of the animation)

    I agree it's MAD that you can't have gifs in XD! makes my life such a hell! And then you wonder why people are switching to Figma... please add!

    Yes, it is a huge and very expected improvement !!
    All the micro interactions help the final user to remain confident with the product.

    We MUST be able to implement self animated items (buttons, loadings…) WITHOUT having to share project with third part companies via plugins. Companies have confidentiality and non disclosure policy !

    But GIF (even if geeks tell us it is not meant to support large and complex animations bla bla bla) is way more powerful than short animations

    Example :

    I work on a path planning project.
    User must preview the path.

    I NEED to produce several iterations of the same path animation, with different colors or informations.
    After Effect is the tool => export a transparent video that I then convert into gif

    Back into XD, my app structure (background, menus, etc) remain unchanged, and we can test every specific path planning representation…

    #WeNeedGIF :D

    But there is another solution, and I will suggest another improvement :
    export animation in a ProRes4444XQ-Alpha video so XD needs to support transparent videos, in at least 4K, because we need to zoom during the playback… that's interaction !

    We requested this 2016 ("Import Videos & Animated GIFs to show in interactive preview ")
    Finally 2021 you added only video and set it to completed.
    Unbelievable!
    Video doesn´t help me.

    What shall we do to integrate an inpendent animation like a waiting spinner?
    1. create Auto-animate in XD
    2. record the screen with video capture tool
    3. cut and export with a video cutting tool
    4. import video again in XD

    That is ridiculous!

    Allow the import of animated gifs that can be viewed in the interactive preview mode.
