Organize assets panel objects (symbols/components/colors/character styles) into folders
Would love to organize symbols into folder for easy accessibility. I spend too much time looking through symbols into one library.
Dear XD Community -
I’m happy to share that as part of XD 44, we have delivered the long awaited assets organization feature 🎉. So now you can flexibly groups your assets to help you organize, navigate and find your assets much faster.
This feature will allow you to:
1. Create unlimited groups and sub-groups for all your assets
2. Easily move assets between groups by drag-n-drop or using the move dialog
3. Custom Reorder your groups
4. Publish linked libraries with groups
5. Sort your document assets panel by name
To learn more about this feature check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/work-with-assets-and-libraries-xd.html
Please give it a try and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Sherif

I agree - Also trying to migrate from Sketchapp - But for now it is simply not possible for me. I have a huge library, and it is impossible to navigate in it right now.
Need a folder structure - with folder-names I can define myself. - The same for test-styles plz!!!

100% - Once you start getting a serious number of assets it becomes a nightmare trying to organise them. Having folders would make this a doddle ...

Agree with everyone. Our component library is too big for just the search feature. I would love to have this done sooner than later because we are currently working on migrating to the new system.

I think having just one section called components and dropping everything into it is very limited. I would like to create sections for icons, buttons, text fields or anything that I can group.

This would be GREAT! Please add this feature.

Hi Saurabh,
Thanks for your feedback. We currently support linked colors in XD through using the Linked Cloud document feature. To learn more about this feature and how to use it, please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/xd/help/linked-assets.html
In regards to color organization, how do you currently organize your colors? and do you use the same paradigm to organize your character styles?
Thanks,

In an Enterprise Design Language setup for product suits, we have extensive usage of the DLS, and the color palette is one of the most important asset for us. We have categories of colors and multiple colors signify different usages of colors according to context.
It will be great to have these:
1. The color palette appearing on Fill/ Border color etc, need to have organization possible, to create categories of colors. So its easier to chose the right color for right element.
2. The global colors in assets and color palette need to be linked, so if there is a change in Master file, those changes will be available for use immediately. Also, the colors used already can be replaced with the newer colors set in Master file.
This will help a lot of complex Enterprise UX Design teams and will add an additional edge of convenience over other design tools.

It is an absolute must for every medium size project and up, specially if you work in a team. It's hard to argue against other software that can handle that more efficiently. Please update it!

Adding custom groups just like the CC Libraries allows you to do would alleviate in-document findability issues. I find myself prepending component file names with a type ie; button, icon, card, input, etc.

PLEASE put this in! This makes XD's library system simply not viable to use with larger libraries

Absolutely needed. Started a new project from zero with "atomic" components in mind. Only five pages, with logos and icons, now my Assets list has grown beyond hundred... "cognitive friction" at its highest

I can't believe this isn't a feature yet. Our design team is split between XD and Sketch. There's a huge push to XD since we use CC for everything else, but I took one look at the assets tab after importing our GUI and closed right out. We have tons of icons and to have them flooded there along side website modules just doesn't work.
I can't see many users leaving sketch for XD until this is added - myself included. The prototype and animate features XD has are awesome, but not awesome enough to spend 10 minutes searching for the right asset.

ABSOLUTE MUST!!!! When your Design System is so comprehensive it is difficult to find components

That would diffinitelly improve workflow, as looking throught a sometimes humongous list is just a waste of time...

I illustrate this great idea as I don't think this is so difficult to implement.
Basic behavior :
- from assets pannel, you move a component inside another component > xd ask you to define a group name > these two component are inside this new group
- you can remove the group(s) by clicking the settings icon (next to the + icon) -

This is a MUST!!! Can't believe this feature is not even considered yet... It would save so much time.

It would be great if I could group components together which would then be exported into separate folders.

and I should be able to create new groups like icons, buttons, forms and so on. Instead of everything in three buckets.
