Copy and paste symbol into a new document, keep it as a symbol
To not re-create symbols in a new document.
Still a good idea to add the ability to insert different text on different screens in one symbol.
Sorry for not updating this one! We do maintain it as a symbol now, and we have included linked symbols as of the October release.

Vote for this feature if you agree that you should be able to copy/paste symbols between XD files without the symbol being duplicated if it already exists in the new file.

This 'bug' I don't understand, we can work with CC Libraries, but between XD files these properties are gone?

This ideally would be solved with having Symbols in the new CC Libraries feature in XD.

When copying artwork that contains symbols from one document and pasting it into a new document it destroys the symbols. See attachments below.
Expected behavior:
When copying & pasting artwork that contains symbols from one document to another the symbol references (and symbols) should be maintained. Similar behavior like in Adobe Illustrator (copy & paste symbols)To reproduce this just download the Apple UI template from this link (https://developer.apple.com/design/resources/) and copy paste one of these templates into a new document.

It would also be nice to replace the old symbol with a new one when inserted into a document where the symbol already exists
