We need this feature

Come on man. You guys earnt like $13B last year and still can't pay someone to add a "tile image" function to your web design app? Let's go, this request is 5 years old already.

How could it be that this basic function is not there? In Illustrator this is a very old feature.

And first I thought Adobe XD is great...

Just realised background patterns are missing... The only way to achieve this is by using the repeat grid, thus making thousand of instances of a single image, that render the XD the file automatically a thousand times heavier. :/

2021 and it's still not possible to use patterns as background... amazin.

The more I use XD the more I want to go back to Sketch. There are too many missed features.

I use Photoshop to create patterns and import them into a masked container in order to avoid the pitfalls of the Repeat Grid workaround. It's a bit disruptive to my workflow, but it works in a pinch.

Upvoting for background pattern fill, this would make the selection of fill methods complete - the repeat grid workaround is acceptable but not very convenient.

When I use the Repeat Grid "workaround", every instance of the bitmap image gets exported when I "Share for Development". I just generated a share link that had 300+ copies of the same background image tile.

How undercooked Adobe XD is continues to amaze me.
Maybe in 3 MORE years we can get a bitmap pattern fill implementation! Oh joy!

As solid and gradient fill are now implemented, I upvote the background fill.
Please make this, using the same attributes as css : repeat-x, repeat-y, center, ...

@Cam, after using XD to create intricate patterns like that, I think it's best to Export to a PNG and use the image instead.
