Auto Save (in case of system crash)
Auto save take away the worry of saving and losing data.
Hi everyone,
With XD versions 8 and 9 we’ve gradually released Auto-Recovery. This is a feature that restores files automatically in the event of an application or system crash. Auto-Recovery is enabled by default and available for both Windows 10 and Mac users.
How it works:
- While editing an XD file, Auto-Recovery runs in the background and stores the edits in a backup file at every 5 seconds. Every time you save the file, the backup is cleaned up from your disk, so there’s no impact on storage.
- In the event of an application or system crash, the backup file is used to restore the last unsaved edits to the original files.
- At next XD launch, the recovered file is available as a recent file in the Start screen or the “File” menu option.
- Recovered files can be identified by the “*” character added at the end of the document title.
- This feature has no impact on XD’s or your device’s speed and performance.
Auto-Recovery is not meant to substitute the workflow of manually saving the file. Continue to save your XD files frequently using the CMD / CTRL –> Save option.
Thank you for your patience and feedback! Update XD to the latest version and let us know if you experience any issues.
Best,
Dan

Lost half a day's work when XD crashed. No autosave option, no recent changes .. please add these features.

All other Adobe programs have some kind of auto-save, including Animate. XD crashes often enough opening, importing and exporting files it should really have this down, even if it's a save timer.

This is archaic. pro apps in 2017 should have autosave from day one. It's not a feature. it's an approach to the way the program uses files.

Периодически вылетает без сохранения
После 2-3х часов работы вылетает, очень неприятно, если постоянно не сохранять.(Periodically flies without saving
After 2-3 hours of operation takes off, it is very unpleasant if you do not always save.) -

Did an hour and a half of work saved it. Opened it later, and all of my work was gone. To test, I copied and pasted wireframes in to the document and hit save. When I would reopen the document, the pasted items were gone as well.
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS APP?

Not really a bug, but XD keeps crashing, and there is no file that is restored. I just lost 3 hours worth of work, which sucks.
I'd take a note from Adobe Illustrator and have an autosave function added ASAP.
Thanks.

I'm crying... I've lost half-day of my work.
After almost 1-year beta no auto save... This is a very important feature.

Why not have a warn, notice, reminder or a note on the next update about this feature not yet available on on current latest update for XD since this very important precaution feature that most users would have thought that's already a feature, especially for an Adobe app and already being made yet, because some might be surprised that this feature isn't yet on available for XD.

Yep adding auto save should be a priority at this stage. We've been trained when using Adobe products to expect an auto-save function to work in the background, and something we can more or less rely on. It's even more of a priority considering the program is in beta, and can be prone to crashes.
It's a great program, and I'm sure I'll be using the final product, but not for now.

In the meantime, can you have a giant warning sign when you start up, "you may lose data, save early and often." I just lost 2 hours of work 2 hours before a customer meeting. I realize there are risks using beta software but it looks like a bunch of us are quite sad right now without this feature.

Please, could you add at least a warning that this feature is missing from the program and that people should pay attention for saving revisions by themselves. It's such a common feature that users are expecting it to happen automatically, and especially new users might lose hours of work because of the random crashes.

Can we, at a minimum, have XD save every few minutes? I am losing tons of work a day on these random crashes. While I make a ton of incremental backups, and manually save when I remember - sometimes you get into a zone and might forget to manually save. Crash and all that work is lost.
The crashing and lost work is becoming a huge issue now. At a minimum can we get a beta update w/incremental saves ASAP PLEASE?
