I see that some of the people who have responded are looking for hovers for elements, which is already supported via hover states: https://twitter.com/elainecchao/status/1194695173499830273?s=20 This specific request seems to be focused on supporting secondary navigation where there might be overlapping edges. I’ll keep this open for the latter use case.

I heard little details are the product. It seems you did not have to create a design system without this feature. I am about to break my computer everytime I need to create a new component based on a previous one.. Please hear our voices.

We could consider a workaround with CC libraries. You import all your components in a CC library. Then you share it to the members of your team. With this approach you can set permissions (edit, read only). This way your team can work with the elements without breaking the consistency. BUT, doing so, if you want to update an element inside the library, you have to delete it and re-import the updated one.... Which of course have no impact on the existing files using the previous component -> pointless. A design system is not for designers only, please listen to all of these meaningful comments !

Concrete use case where it would be needed : simple and basic contextual menu. If I resize the main component (contener), I have to resize every components cell insides...
The worst thing is it will resize the current child component state, but not the others...
In addition, not every users are designers. The way it works make things way too hard to maintain.Our design system is shared with Project Managers, Product owner, Developers... This kind a detail is a real pain point for adoption in our company.
