Another user coming from Sketch here. To me, this is one of the most powerful and useful features of Sketch and is what keeps many people still within their tool.
Just think about what you have vs. what Sketch does. Adobe XD has a single master that you can override each instance but at that point the link for that element is now broken from the master unless you revert. So if you have a button that is blue and you want a red variant you can make one red and copy it but if all the red buttons need to change there is no way to do so unless you create a new master.
With Sketch, you just simply nest the symbols and they show up as a select box option. They are always easily accessible in the master file.
It's also way easier ultimately to have one symbol added to a document with just options selected rather than a master and lots of clones with things changed. There's no control over that.
In this case, it seems like Adobe over-engineered how it should work to provide an easier implemented solution but at the risk of eliminating some of the most powerful features of nesting.
Several of the items originally mentioned here are covered by other feature requests already:
- Dotted/dashed lines: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/13024749-dotted-and-dashed-line-border-styles
- Accept CSS as input for styling XD elements: https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007/suggestions/12926715-use-css-to-specify-object-appearance
The only suggestion I think we don’t have listed yet is arrow-head line endings. To keep the request list tidy, I will change the title here so it is specifically focused on that one idea. Please upvote the other links above so your interest in those features is captured too.
Thanks for your feedback!
Lines should definitely have an option for arrows at one and both ends along with controls for size. This is useful for specifications or to highlight specific features.

Another why isn't this done already vote, especially considering that all your other tools have it. Having to use copy paste bullets or font-awesome fake bullets kills time and doesn't work well.
Bonus points if you can implement real lists somehow where the bullet hangs instead of just sits inline with the first line.
Please please please make this available. Please give the users like do you with your other programs the ability to open whichever of the three main panels they want and dock them at a time. It is cumbersome to have to switch between layers and assets when I could have them side by side or top and bottom, especially on larger screens.
This is necessary. I have giant lists of fonts, colors and components with no real organization and it kills a workflow to have to scroll through them. Searching is available but requires searching.
Sketch handles it through using a shortcode to generate folders but I prefer manually creating folders and organizing items into them because trying to remember shortcodes or paths is cumbersome.
