I am again surprised that this feature isn't there. There should be a way to select the whole button and resize all states, rather than just the default one.

Yes, Preferences. Another basic and necessary feature missing from Adobe XD.
If you ever put it back, please add a preference to stop auto-capitalizing everything I type. -

How would one make an onclick button state appear without this? Another ability I am surprised XD doesn't have.

Totally agree, this is a very basic functionality that is on all other adobe applications. Why not here?
