Can you please provide more details or steps? I tried reproducing the problem you reported, but when I edit the master component for the nested component (component 2, which you mention), it updates as expected in the parent component (component 1).
I have exactly the same problem as Denis. I am working on the Design System and created a single file (Master) in which I have all my components. For example, I copy a button component with a nested component (let's call it instance) to another external file (Prototype) and when I want to change the color of an instance (in Master) nothing changes in the external file (Prototype). The situation changes if I ungroup the nested component in Master and then copy it again to Prototype. Also, when you copy components, you don't copy colors to the color library, which forces me to add them manually. This is not the right way or action. Colors from the Master should be linked in the same way as the components in the Prototype library. Otherwise, what is the point of creating a separate file (Master) proudly called Design System (which it really is), since I have to do my job twice (also in the Prototype).
Please FIX it as soon as possible. This is a serious BUG.
Fix it please. It drives me crazy! If I would like to have a shape with border by deafult, I would ask for it, but I don't want as many other people. It should be an optional feature.
I fully agree. Why this feature is not available yet? It is really hard to work with the library that collects a lot of unnecessary elements.

I fully agree with Ole Frederik Lie. Character styles shouldn't be linked to color at all. Please, change this!

This is unacceptable that Adobe XD still doesn't have link to external URLs and embaded video feature. Please add this as soon as possible!
