An error occurred while saving the comment teh_er1k commentedFor anyone who wonders - This app was made for those very professional and very creative iPad power users... They don't need our panels! They are better than us office nerds. They have so much time and so much freedom...
We creative professionals on our office machines, we don't have a saying anymore. Our opinion doesn't matter - we buy it anyways. Because for some idiotic reason, all this Adobe trash is still "industry standard".
6 years... I have no idea why this site doesn't get flooded by more angry workers who desperately want their productivity back.

Okay, so I’m trying to understand here. By looking up documentation, I see that you can place images in your file and link them to an image on your file system, so not embedding them in the file. (I’m assuming you’re not talking about inserting links to images on the Internet via URLs.) When the document opens, it loads up the image and places it in. In some apps, updating the file on the file system will update the image automatically without any intervention, and in other apps, changing it on the file system won’t update until you either manually refresh or relaunch the app.
This scenario is what I was defining as “dynamic linking.” Smart Objects (as I’m defining them in my head) are elements that are in a CC file format (like Photoshop or Illustrator). Am I misunderstanding your request for external links?
Thanks,
-Elaine

Everything we import in XD becomes an XD object. There is no interaction between Adobe software as a complete suite should promise.
For example: Linking a PSD should allow a one layer image in XD, which automatically updates when you change anything in the PSD in PS! Think "Linked Smart Objects" in XD.
Come on, even Ai can do it nowadays.

An error occurred while saving the comment teh_er1k commentedPlease make the whole paragraph format palette accessible. InDesign is the most professional software because of that feature - there is no other more efficient way to handle text! Every Adobe software should have it.

An error occurred while saving the comment teh_er1k commentedIn Photoshop I click the color picker and automatically have the eyedropper tool at my disposal. I don't see any reason why XD should not react the same.
This is just one example of SO MUCH stuff that forces me to click more than I normally would in other software, like PS or ID! You are building software to make future software to be planned more easily. You may want to start with your own. It's so obvious how the designers of XD seem to have no clue how their big siblings work...

An error occurred while saving the comment teh_er1k commentedThe lack of this feature shows, no matter how great the infrastructure around it is - it doesn't let you work as fast as you want to... as you are used to! Despite being from the same software family... shame.
And for all the "there's a workaround for this" -people:
We use workarounds because devs screw up, yes. That doesn't mean you can sell me a hook for a hand!teh_er1k supported this idea · -

Another proof of Adobe's short sighted, single purpose, casual app design mantra. We need control and flexibility!
It would be very much appreciated if they would just test their own software in multiple professional environments and not just follow some trend that could change in two years time.
