An error occurred while saving the comment Spas Kakarchev commentedThis is probably such a fundamental failure of the whole states feature, that they will need to re-design it from scratch to make it work properly. It was clearly rushed for release to get more people talking about xd. That's why they are still not addressing this accordingly.
I assume their whole plan is to release such half-baked features for marketing purposes and rework or fix them months or years down the road. Keep in mind some of the most popular requests here have been "in the backlog" for years now - this shows you how much they care about what the users actually need.
An error occurred while saving the comment Spas Kakarchev commentedIt's so weird that isn't the default behavior. It looks more like a bug rather than how it was intended, considering menus with many items with different texts is probably the most common use of that feature.
I can't even think of a situation where you wouldn't want instance overrides to carry over to all of their states.

An error occurred while saving the comment Spas Kakarchev commentedIt's strange to me this isn't upvoted more :) Maybe it's not needed that much within a studio environment, but if you are independent designer and need to hand off assets to a dev team or an agency, literally every developer I've ever worked with expects a .PSD file. Please don't go with Apple's "deal with it" approach to product design :)

It really is a must feature for modern web & app design. I've been using a hacky workaround with covers to achieve this effect, made a video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfnGNCVZ4nw
It's not perfect but does the trick for headers and elements that are not too tall.
