I think it would be useful to view the letter spacing in different units like px, but for the design work it is actually really practical to have it in a unit relative to the font size. Otherwise you would have to adjust the letter spacing everytime you increase or decrease font size, just that the text keeps looking the same relative to its new size.

I support this feature request, because currently I have to navigate through my folder structure multiple times per day when switching between projects and exporting new assets/artboards.

Since sharing of project files is not uncommon, I can think of two possible solutions:

    Approach 1:
The relative export path is saved in the Adobe XD project file. So the subpath "below" the place where the project file lies.
This only works for situations when your export paths are somewhere deeper in your folder structure than the project file. It is problematic when multiple users are sharing the project file and are not using the same relative project folder structure.
It probably does not work when you open an XD file directly from the cloud.

    Approach 2:
The Adobe XD installation remembers the export paths for all (or recently) opened project files on the current machine. This means, the paths are not part of the .xd file and so every team member can have their own paths "remembered", no matter which folder structure or operating system they use.

Approach 2 is probably more versatile.

If you repeat a component which contains another component, then you can change the state of the inside component (instance) which would just affect this one instance, not all repeated instances.

But this seems like a side effect of actually modifying the instance of the outer component.

It would be useful, if you could do it without nesting components. It should behave the same as changing texts in a repeater.

This can be helpful if you have a component with a lot of instances and then decide you want to split them into two different components (in cases where using the new component states dont make sense).

A colleague has now pointed out to me, that in the October update a feature was introduced, to click through various layers of elements with Ctrl/Cmd + click. This seems to have replaced the old Ctrl/Cmd + double click feature for selecting text.

So I guess my questions is then, if there is a way to keep the direct text selection with some alternate key combination.

A related question arises from the new feature: If I use Ctrl/Cmd+click to select a text element which is placed below something else, how can I then start editing its text content?

Thank you for your reply! Yes, of course I know that I can do this with the context menu / a right mouse click. Like I wrote in my feature request, this needs 3 clicks (after selecting), a dedicated button would only need 1 click.
While I got used to using the keyboard shortcuts for this in the meantime, I still believe the arrange function is so essential, that it deserves its own, visible UI buttons.

We would also need support for activating tabular numerals (font-variant-numeric: tabular-nums; / font-feature-settings: 'tnum';).

I use a symbol for a navigation bar with navigation buttons that always link to the same pages (like it exists in a lot of websites, or similarly apps may have a tab-bar navigation).

It would be extremely useful to have the option to have instances of this symbol inherit these interaction links.

I agree with previous comments, that it should be an option if a symbol passes down its links to all the instances or if a symbol's links can be overwritten for each instance.
-> Some symbols are meant to be global navigation elements that always have the same content and link targets (like navigation bars)
-> Some symbols are meant to be reusable elements, that are reused with the same styling but with different contents and link targets (like buttons)

My idea has been merged with this idea (see comments by Christoph Mauerhofer), but these are two different things.

This idea discusses the way artboards are named when duplicated.

My idea was referring to the way the files are named when exporting artboards in case of name conflict.

To elaborate, in the described case (like XD behaves currently on Windows) you have two artboards named "my-artboard-name" and after exporting you get the two files named "my-artboard-name.png" and "Element-1.png".

When you have two artboards with exactly the same name and you export the artboards to PNG, one of the exported files gets a generic filename "Element-1".
It would be more useful to add some suffix so that you end up with two files named e.g. "my-artboard-name.png" and "my-artboard-name (1).png".

Please provide the option to input the margin/gutter for a repeat grid in an input field in the right panel. Often this is quicker and more precise than only being able to do it by dragging with the mouse.

Also, the option to fix this distance, so that it does not change when the size of the repeated grid element changes, would be great!

Allow to open the layers panel and the symbols panel at the same time (have each of them use half of the height of the left panel area).

It would be useful to be also able to add new grid cells between two existing cells and/or reorder existing cells.
