Sorry for the false alarm! Someone pointed out to me that I interpreted the request incorrectly. While you can now select objects both in the artboard and on the pasteboard, you cannot yet select objects on the pasteboard and complete artboards themselves.

We think you’re going to really, really dig the plugin integrations we’re making available later this year :)

Have you tried using the “paste appearance” command? You can copy an object, select another object, and then right click and “Paste Appearance” to apply all applicable styles.
I’m leaving this suggestion open.

Elaine, didn't notice "paste appearance" earlier :) Thanks! :) It works well, but still illustrator way is much easier and faster. You just select an object, then press "i" and click on another object to pick appearance.
Why there isn't pick color shortcut (as "i" in illustrator) in XD? It is so slow and annoying to click eyedropper every time.
And "XD is all about designing at the speed of thought", right? Why not using smarter and faster ways to do things? For example, to apply color as border -> instead of right clicking clicking and "apply as border" - just alt+click. Or click "c" to see context menu with saved colors and quick pick the color you want without going to assets. Just a simple examples, but i would be happy to see that improvements in future :)
