Note: there’s a limited version of this feature already available. If you select an existing piece of text and then leave it selected while you use the Text tool to create new text, its style will match the piece of text you had selected.

100% agree. I realize that the XD Team was probably phasing in being able to have a grid of all canvases when they had the "Share for Development" as a link that showed the whole XD file with all the canvases laid out, but I really, really loved the old version. It was tremendously valuable in my workflow, because others could see progression vertically and horizontally, which is not available when using grid. It would be absolutely amazing if there was an ability in preferences the option to turn off grid for the see all canvases as laid out like the pre-grid style that was like Mural.ly but far more useful. I lay out flows with mobile and desktop side-by-side, but there isn't a 1-for-1 as mobile screens require more progressive disclosure, so with the grid view, any order is completely lost.
